Macan 4 won’t go into drive or reverse & Cruise control irregularities.

Hi everyone,

Had my Macan4 for a couple of months with no (major) issues. But yesterday evening it refused to go into Drive or Reverse. It will go in N (role mode on the infotainment) and the parking brake will turn on and off but no drive modes.

No lights or warning on the dash.

Checked all the usual suspects, doors and bootsshut, seatbelt on, pressure sensor on the seat and brake pedal engaged and working. All seem fine.

Also did the soft reset (hold volume 30 seconds) and a factory reset. No improvement.

Porsche assistance send someone out, they checked all the same stuff plus the 12v battery. All fine.

Porsche are sending a tow truck at 8am this morning to take it to main dealer.

Anyone has this issue before or any idea what it might be?

I’ve also had another software issue that I’ve ignored up until now. Every now and again the cruise control stops functioning normally. When it’s working normally a shallow press of the stalk increases or decreases the speed by 1mph and a deep press to the nearest multiple of 5mph. But sometimes it completely changes, it then takes two shallow presses for 1mph and the deep press gives around 6-7mph jumps. It goes form 37 to 46 to 54. Any else experiences this and could they be related?

I've seen this a couple of times, where it seems to jump to an odd speed. Not repeatable and I was not certain if it was not user error (though I'm pretty sure not.)

With mine it would do it continually until the car was locked for a while then it would start working normally again.

Yes, this is the most important thing you can learn about your Porsche PCM vehicle:
Keep the vehicle locked, even in your own garage, and the key(s) 33 feet (10 meters) away when you are not using the vehicle.

The vehicle will reset error codes, but it takes time, typically more than 15 minutes. This has been true for us with a 2015 Macan Turbo, 2016 GT4, 2020 Taycan Turbo S, and 2024 Macan Turbo Electric. None of our vehicles have ever been to the shop to fix a software problem, even though we had displays of major electrical, brake, and suspension system faults. All were corrected by locking the car and moving more than 33 feet away for 15-20 minutes (occasionally overnight). Logging out and back in has been our most complex reset - have never reset a PCM on any of our Porsche vehicles. We may have been lucky, but I am a believer in always locking and moving the key(s) far away. Hope it works for you.
