Hey everyone. First of all, I love my new truck! This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. I'm 48M/Midwest and can't complain about much of anything. I look forward to driving it daily as I approach 980 miles on the odometer over the last 2 weeks.
Anyway, how do I get my OTAs? I read this forum. I read reddit. I Google for answers. I called Ford OTA hotline and talked to OTA support team. I guess I need to have a very unique set of criteria met all at once for this miracle to occur. Once my truck scans in my first-born daughters left toe-nail DNA into its system maybe it will update?!
Joking aside, I think I've met the list of: 85% or higher, parking brake, not charging, 12v at charge, ignition off, good vehicle signal, doors and windows closed, lights off. Tried scheduling it out "5 minutes", one hour, or at other custom times. Tried toggle on Android off. Tried update now but greyed out. Does anyone have developer/dealer secret menu unlocks such as my Android can do? I am a network engineer so I WANT to FIX it. Do I really need the dealer? Do I really need to invest in expensive Forscan equipment to do this? Again.... Love my truck! Please help if you went through this. I have the 24 Flash.

From your original post, seems you're clear on the majority of issues.

As a regular customer, there's not much you can do but wait for the miracles to happen, once the FoMoCo's spectacular data processing system decides your day has come the truck will be appointed with an update task. You can install now or delay it until it's convenient, for major drive inhibited updates.

Seriously, I'm considering investing in the appropriate tools to do it myself, though one thing holds me back from that, is the occasional issues of a bad update released prematurely screwing up my truck to the point that I'd need warranty service to fix it. I don't know if anyone has experienced a dickhead of a service manager refusing to cover an issue caused by the owner doing the updates themselves.

BTW, you might have seen a post or three where taking your significant other to an elegant supper helps coax it along.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you considered that your new truck with less than 1000 miles was built with the latest software and doesnā€™t need an update yet? Is there some feature youā€™ve read about that you donā€™t have?

Do you have the SOC displayed on the dash? Does your BC change lanes if you activate your turn signal? Do you have walk away lock?

These are the features everyone wants and I believe most 24s have. Itā€™s those of us with earlier models that lack many of these features and are looking for OTAā€™s.

You canā€™t initiate an OTA. It will come when Ford deems you need one. When they deem you need one and if the conditions arenā€™t right you will get an error and can then post here for help. Until then, there is nothing to do but be patient.

I thought that too. But I bought a 24 Flash, August build and it came with version 6.x and has only got one ā€œupdate for your updatesā€ update since I got the truck. No 10.x updates, karaoke, android auto, public charge app, etc that older trucks are getting.

Bottom line is that Fordā€™s update strategy still makes no sense, even on brand new trucks šŸ˜†

If you bought you truck hoping for regular, consistent, updates to happen, you bought the wrong truck.

Haha! That is my issue. It's time to take her(wife not truck) out for elegant supper!

I have BC change lanes with turn signal, I like that one!
Walk away lock works, also nice but I still don't trust it yet

What I want most right now is the Android Auto integration for my upcoming 500 mile trip to MN for Christmas.

FDRS is the only way. Even if you purchased all the hardware to push the firmware yourself, there is no guarantee that you'll get APIM update you want. You can only update what Ford has available on the servers for your specific VIN. You could buy all the tools needed, do all the updates you have pending and still not get the AA integration feature you're looking for.

It's maddening that 1000 trucks are likely built and configured just like mine, or any of ours and Ford can't harmonize distribution of these updates to all such that they are within x% matching, +/- a few percent for failures.

I think fordā€™s first DEI hire was hiring the Riddler to run their OTA deployments. Apparently even Gothamā€™s most well known criminals get cushy jobs now.

So you are way ahead of most of us. I'm still waiting for BC update on my 2023. WAL works after a recent CSP however I have no switch to turn it on/off because the module for that isn't updated yet. After 2 years, I know enough to drive the truck, enjoy it as is and if I get an update, fabulous.

I like that thought, enjoy it as is! Bonus points if I get the update.
