sw engineering manager,
I am too old to learn how to drive again.
If you do want to train your brain on a new way to do it, I would suggest winter is NOT the time to be learning something new.

But sure, if you are already an expert at 1 PD driving, keep using what you know in the snow and ice.

Granted, I have never - yet - driven a vehicle with one pedal mode, but at least in my current train of thought, I absolutely refuse to use it. I don't want my muscle memory in an emergency having to remember / think about which vehicle I'm driving. Besides my own vehicle (expected to be a Lightning soon), I drive my wife's car, several different vehicles for work, and once in a while one of several vehicles for a volunteer activity. None of those other vehicles have 1PD.
Am I off track with this thought?
That's my thinking as well. I'm way too used to lifting my foot off the pedal to coast and this is the only vehicle I have where that's not mandatory. I tried 1-pedal for a week or so, but my muscle memory was too strong and overcoming it would have made me uncomfortable in the other vehicles I drive.

Did the people who are afraid of getting bad muscle memory pretend to press a clutch when moving from a manual car to an automatic in order to not lose the clutch muscle memory? I find that when I am in a new car it takes a little bit to get adjusted but then I am fine. I had driven nothing but an EV with 1PD for the last 6ish years and getting into a work truck last week took all of 5 minutes to acclimate to...

I am fine with people wanting not wanting to take a risk, but I see these PSAs pop up every year basically instructing users to turn it off because it's bad..

Since I only drove with a clutch for 5 years or so back in late 80s/early 90s, that memory is long gone ;-)

They do!!

It kicks off just like abs.
I was just gonna say the same thing! The abs definitely works with regen and works quite well.

Two winters so far, I have never turned off 1PD.
I would have said the exact same 9 days ago, but last week we had the worst ICE event I remember in my area in many many years and going 15 miles an hour coming to a stoplight the normal regen grabbed hard enough that I almost slid into some one. If it's super icy, Id say turn it off or preferably I wish we just had a damn SNOW mode that neuters acceleration/deceleration a bit more than normal.

Always seemed strange to me the drive “mode” button has a little snowflake, indicating that there might be a snow mode, but….there isn’t

honestly was one of the most surprising things to me when I researched the truck.
