Relationship between battery charge level (SOC) and acceleration / performance?

Is there a relationship between battery charge level and acceleration?

I feel like the acceleration, especially when flooring it at higher speeds, is reduced once the battery drops below about 90%.

I understand that at very low states of charge (SOC), power is limited. However, I’m specifically asking about the 40% to 80% charge range, where the dash still shows full power.

Has anyone else experienced this or know if there's a technical explanation?

Yes, that is true for all EVs. As the charge level drops, so does pack voltage which impacts maximum power. Different battery chemistries can reduce this, but all of them have it as far as I know.

Most noticeable thing for me is once it actually starts derating your power. It gets harder to steer ever so slightly.

There is definitely more power at +95% SOC. I find it quite noticeable. The voltage of the HVB is higher in this range giving you a bit of a power boost. The power gauge says 100% from 100% SOC down to say ~40% (it is dependent on temperature) and the power between 90%-40% seems about the same to me. The HVB voltage difference between 90% and 40% SOC is relatively stable on LFP and NMC chemistries so although it does drop a small amount, it is barely noticeable until the power gauge starts to drop.
