I don't use the remote start feature often so I don't know if this has been this way for a while, but it seems like incorrect behavior to me.

I have my charging set to charge to 80%. This has been working fine for me for many months. My truck was plugged in last night and correctly charged to 80%. Since it was chilly this morning and the truck was still plugged in, I decided to remote start it to use the plug energy to heat things up. But once started, it also started a charging session to 100% (see top of screenshot). Interestingly, the message implied that the charging would finish 2 minutes ago

I clicked on the Stop button and the charging did stop. When I went out about 5 minutes later, the remote start was still working as I had hoped and expected.

Seems like a bug (or two) to me. I would have expected the latter behavior without having to stop a charging session I didn't want in the first place.

I've seen that in the past, it's just topping up a fraction of a percent SOC from your prior bulk charging event, after the pack cools down, there is a bit of settling in values, so during remote start or departure timed start, the charge controller will top up to programmed value (80% in your case).

The message needs perfection, but the actual action is fine.

Or...... it could compensate for that in the charging session by charging to the correct value.

If I charge to 80%, and I get in the truck, the moment I turn it on and back out of my driveway, I'm at 79%.

If I charge to 100%, I can be 10 miles down the road and still at 100%.

Just Ford things I guess....

Something weird that I have seen is remote start is an entirely different profile in my truck. Whoever THAT guy is likes things very different than me. After I remote start I have to be sure to press my memory button. Could be the same thing happening, and the default on that profile is 100%.

That's been happening since day 1. It did it with my 2021 ICE truck too, so not even specific to the Lightning.

Always goes to the guest profile when you remote start. Pretty annoying bug, but just have to remember to hit the seat position 1 button and it changes everything back. Took me a while to realize that.

Curious if the start button on the top of the App was pushed or the Fan icon button?

Also I noticed that remote started doesn't use house current when plugged in it draws from the battery.

L1 or L2 should be sending energy, how have you determined that it's not in your experience?

I remote started this morning at 9:45am and no draw on the charger.
Are you seeing a draw when you remote start?

What brand of EVSE are you using?
What is your trucks SOC at the time of the remote start?
Does your EVSE have rules about TOU time frames, & was 9:45 within a restriction period?

When I'm plugged in and remote start, I will see energy draw on my FCSP and my Emporia Vue2 energy monitoring system. My truck was charged to it's 90% set point the prior night, then at 7:46 I started the truck, briefly drawing 18kW, then it tapered down, finished at 8:01.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex
90% SOC.
Ahh yes, I do have a schedule set for 11:00pm to 7:00am to charge my truck that is probably my issue with the test. I'll remote start before 7:00am tomorrow and see what the results are.

I do see the remote start using the house power now that I did it during my chargers schedule time. 🙄 About 1.2kWh at 6:30am.

I'll be using the remote start instead of Precondition this winter.

Thanks for the report, this reinforces my belief that some folks might run into this issue than realize, but then again it's only 1.2 to 1.8 kWh, which computes to 3 to 5 miles of potential range lost.

I'm curious what the usage will be when we get into the real cold weather, the below zero temps.🥶

IIRC, the most I've used in a departure timed battery / cabin prep was a little under 5 kWh
Qualifying that with the fact we've had two mild winters in a row, I think we're heading for unusually cold this winter so I might do a test for the record when that happens.

I'm generally NOT using departure time while plugged in because most of my trips are short, the rare occasion I need to optimize will be family visits to NH fall & winter.
