it started with me thinking about making a bubble machine for my lightning…. First: I would buy one of those party bubble machines… and then head to the auto parts store for one of the accessory Texas size diesel exhaust extentions. Next: I’d mount same together under truck… with remote actuator to turn it on. Next I’d figure a way to switch the EV noise generator under the front end over to a speaker that projects the bubble sound that the model T makes in the early 60’s “flubber” movies (absent minded professor, son of flubber, etc)

Then I thought… this would really make a great ad…

camera rolls and we see a black and white digital AI version of Fred MacMurray (the original 1961 version absent minded professor Flubber movie) in his scrappy old garage with his model t…

next to the model T is a crazy looking time machine.

The professor is mumbling away to himself happily and he pats the time machine and the model T. As he walks out of the garage into the driveway he passes through a force field of some sort and everything suddenly turns to color and the camera slowly pans out and we can see that his house is now a modern cool dwell magazine sort of place in current day.… with a new ford lightning in the driveway.

The Professor gets in the lightning and starts it and backs out the drive. He is happily driving along in the slow lane in an idyllic small town setting (Disney sort of town). You can hear songbirds in the background and the professor says hello to a mailman at a mailbox as he drives by and waves a couple walking their dog (you can hear them talking because it’s quiet as he drives along). In the distance is a stoplight and in the background you hear some sort of heavy metal music getting louder and louder and the professor looking at something approaching in the rear view mirror. Camera switches and we can see it’s a cyber truck in the mirror. the professor pulls up to the light slowly and the cyber truck pulls up really fast beside him. The license plate on the cybertuck says “prototype”.

camera switches and we can we can see it’s Elon Musk driving the cyber truck and he’s blasting metal music and looking at his cell phone tweeting while sitting in the fast lane at the light. He doesn’t look up or even notice the lightning or his surroundings. The professor rolls up his window to try to quiet the noise… we can see professor’s fingers on his right hand clicking through a screen on the dash and then clicking the lighting to Sport Mode as he smiles just a teensy bit.

the light changes and the professor hits the accelerator and the ev noise changes to that unique Flubber car sound… and he totally “rolls bubbles” at Musk… ie… the entire rear undercarriage of the lightning emits clear bubbles which all evaporate almost instantly with tiny pop pop noises. Musk looks up from his twitter account and drives through the cloud of bubbles but never sees the lightning and has no idea what has just happened. We can’t see the lightning anywhere. Musk drives forward and we see he’s getting on an on-ramp to a crowded freeway.

next we see the professor in his lightning… with the flubber noise going full on… and he is flying high over the little idyllic small town in the now flying lightning and we can just see the cyber truck getting on the huge freeway below… headed towards a dirty large city in the far distance.

the professor next just floats quietly down to a small road next to green fields and then pulls into an elementary school with tons of kids running around. He parks and gets out and we see a young second grade girl who’s eyes are following one small bubble floating just off the rear bumper of the truck.

the professor looks at her and says: ” Hi Peggy!” Peggy looks away from the bubble which then pops and looks at the professor… and says… “see you in science class”

The camera pans out and the professor smiles and walks towards the school while Peggy skips off to join friends

The lightning is just parked there in the parking lot.

end.

This actually has some great ideas. Kind gets away from Ford's whole "it's still an F150 " campaign in a really fun way. It would be one of the few commercials I don't fast forward on my DVR.

What an imagination! We may never see this ad on TV, but I sure enjoyed your description of it. "The Absent Minded Professor" was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Thanks!

Thought about it a bit more:

the cybertruck should say “autonomous prototype“ on it. Musk shouldn’t actually be driving it… he should be in the back seat as an occupant… with nobody driving it. It is self driving. He should never move a muscle… he should simply sit motionless eyes glued to his phone screen… the only thing that moves is his thumb on the screen of his phone… under the din of his music should be the vague sound of millions of tweets hitting his inbox

My buddy Dale says that because there is no driver… we need to pan through the empty cab of the autonomous cybertruck (past the broken drivers window from that demo fail) to musk texting in the backseat. 🤣
