Hello all,

I'm awaiting the arrival of my first 4Runner...a '25 TRD Sport Premium RWD. Yes, I know...it's the mall crawling, street version of an awesome SUV. I wanted the sportier styling as I'm not a off-roader or overlander. However, I am very interested in driving this new 4Runner for at least the next 15 years hopefully & I want to protect it as much as reasonably possible. I'm looking into some skids plates for it to protect it from road debris & the like. I do a lot of highway driving due to living 45 miles from my place of work & occasionally have hit various objects while driving my '03 Tundra so I know that potential damage can be sustained by simply highway driving & even street driving. I'd prefer to avoid any damage rather than hope it doesn't happen & have to get costly repairs performed. I'm aware that the Off Road & Off Road Premium trims come stock with a set of composite skid plates included. For all you off roaders & overlanders those composite skid plates just don't cut it...but for an owner like me I think they would be very sufficient to install on my incoming 4Runner for my use case scenario & especially because they will cost less than metal skid plates.

Does anyone in here know with certainty if the TRD Sport trims are manufactured ready to add on an engine skid plate, a transmission/transfer case skid plate & a differential skid plate without having to drill holes or make modifications?
(I know the RWD doesn't have a transfer case but I figure the more protection for the drive shaft the better.)

I'd entertain the option of buying a second-hand set of new composite skid plates from a new Off Road trim owner who has upgraded to some more substantial skid plates needed for their recreational activities assuming that I can verify that the composite skid plates will bolt on to my TRD Sport Premium properly without any issues.

Thanks in advance for your replies all.

Mall crawling is all about what you do with it.. The TRD Sport doesn't have to be a mall crawler..

2025 Toyota 4runner Skid Plates install on 2025 4Runner TRD Sport 6th Gen? PASSENGER_SIDE

I had the same question about the garbage skid plate... Someone just confirmed with a photo that the Tacoma skid plate will fit the 4Runner. I'm on the fence now between the OEM skid or an aftermarket. I found this to be quite a deal on Rough Country's website.. $149 to replace the crap Toyota put on there.

Hi all! The 6 Gen 4Runner ALL come with the front crossmember, no matter what trim level (unlike the Tacoma). They are ready to mount any skid plates.

Thank you very much for your post! That information really helps. I really like that bumper also! Is it a part that a novice can install at home?
