About lights, any way to stop zone lighting from coming on when walking near the truck with the key fob (maybe also smartphone PAAK?)? The contacts turning these lights on/off sound like the door is unlocking/locking, which makes me worry that is true.

Maybe this, p119, Zone lighting
"Enable Autolamp Override
This setting allows your vehicle to override the autolamps when using zone lighting. When you access zone lighting for the first time, you can choose this setting. You can
change this setting at any time."
Not sure what the autolamps are doing vs. the zone lighting.

Interesting that Autolamps also controls the Adaptive Front Lighting (bending headlamps for curves). I would think that should be a separate function.

Probably should be a thread for each section, maybe subsection, of the manual!

Comparing this to the ICE F150, it rides like a very heavy vehicle. Almost like an ICE F150 with a half pallet of bricks in the bed! That said, I prefer it over the ICE, just saying the additional weight of the battery is very noticeable.

Lane centering and lane departure assist should both be able to be controlled via steering wheel controls. I shouldn’t have to tab thru the Sync screen to turn on/off lane centering during highway driving.

Exterior front end styling not as nice as rear.

Welcome Lighting switch off
As mentioned by TaxmanHog, it is Feature in Settings called Welcome Lighting. This YouTube video explains it, except the 2022 Lightning doesn’t have the deployable running boards as described.

You’re correct that this topic is not mentioned in th OM. Here is the Welcome Lighting setting location on the Sync 4a screen:

Thank you for pulling up the screen shots, earlier I looked through the manual and did not find a reference to the Welcome Lighting control, but I knew I had seen it earlier in the day!!

1. No bench seat option.
2. The clunky low speed noises.
3. Frunk beeping.
Hopefully the second two will be solved with time.
Bench seat would be nice!

Is #2 the pedestrian noisemaker? If not I’m curious if you could expand on that.

Isn't there a lane keeping button on the left side steering wheel switches?

I think it's a reference to the click or ting from "torque reversal" when starting off or slowing down. More pronounced with 1PD.

See here.

I've had my truck for a week now and have put 600 miles on it. Here is everything I have found to complain about:

Software complaints
  • Beating a dead horse here, but not having the kW being taken in by the battery when charging is just a weird design choice.
  • The FordPass app does not show the current lock status of the truck, nor do I see any options to have the app alert you if you left the truck unlocked. Many other vehicle apps have these features.
  • Continuing with the app, the apple watch app is very basic, only allowing you to start the vehicle and lock/unlock the truck. Other vehicle apple watch apps I've used have a lot more functionality.
  • I've driven in the rain a few times and the rain sensing wipers don't seem to trigger very easily. And yes, I have enabled them in the settings.
Physical complaints
  • There is an immense amount of plastic. This is my own personal FWP as my previous vehicle was an Audi. I do realize I'm now driving a ford and not a luxury car, and I voluntarily made that choice. My dealership kept referring to my Lariat trim as a luxury model. Yeah...I'd call it "premium" at best.
  • Another dead horse to beat...the leather in the lariat trim is not of great quality. I know some people have been taking their trucks into the dealer to have the seat covers replaced but its clear the creasing issues will just keep happening. I'll probably go the katzkin route once my seats start to looking terrible. Hopefully I can at least get 5 years out of them before then.
  • The doors need a certain amount of force to fully close that I'm not used to. Once again, this is another luxury vs regular car issue. The doors on my Audi would close with a light breeze.

Overall, the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. I could write a small novel on everything I love. Ford knocked it out of the park with their first EV truck.

Might be worth checking the alignment of the camera. Some others have reported this and found the camera was loose and not lined up properly. Properly seating the camera fixed the issue.

This was the issue. I had the auto wipers switched off on the stalk! I’m an idiot.

Related to gripes...

Is anyone else experiencing where the comfort seat access doesn't work when you press the start button? It seems like 30% of the time, the seat/steering doesn't move when I press the start button. I have to turn it off and back on again.

Also, how can you permanently dismiss the "your data is shared" message when you start the truck that shows up on the big screen? It says something about changing a setting to not show it, but I can find any related setting.

Probably a profile loading issue tied to remote start or preconditioning, often that affects other preference adjustments.

Personally, I hate the seat and steering column moving back and forth between drive sessions, there is switch on the Sync 4a console to turn it off, mines off permanently.

Next time you experience a missed auto adjustment look at the loaded driver profile, if it's default, pick your profile and possibly all will be good to go.

Thanks. I didn't have a profile set up. I set one up and maybe that will make it more reliable.

For the other question about the 'shared data' message that pops up every time you start the truck, you can turn off all the data sharing in Connections, but if you do that you lose the access to the Plug&Charge feature which requires Vehicle Data Shared and Vehicle Location Shared at the minimum. So I guess there is no good way to turn off that nag screen.

Anyone else driven crazy by the Frunk going into a state of stupor if you put the truck into drive if it's not 100% closed? Why can't the Frunk just continue closing the last few inches when you put the truck in drive like the tailgate on any regular vehicle?

My son puts his backpack in the Frunk for school drop off (yes, he's flexing on his friends, but kids be kids) and probably 20% of the time I end up looking like an idiot (and probably making Ford look bad too) driving away with a partially open Frunk, having to pull over, and then play upsy-downsy with the Frunk before I can drive away again.

If I sit there waiting the full time for it to close I risk being honk-blasted by the 50 people in line behind me wondering why I'm not driving because my kid is halfway to class before the Frunk fully latches.

This seems like it could be such an easy fix....

Love the truck for the most part though!
