I am new to the 4runner. Confusion as to which trim to place the order for. I have been switching between TRD ORP vs LIMITED. I am mostly going to use this as my daily driver. I don't do much offroading. However, I really like to have a bigger tires, 33"+ and do some lift kit 2" with a suspension kit to increase the height.
I really like the Underground exterior with Portobello Interior combination.

1. Can I able mod to have bigger tires and increase the height with a better suspension with limited Trim ?
2. What am I loosing if I choose limited trim, other than the MTS and Crawl control ?

please let me know your thoughts, what would you choose if you were me.

tacomaworld might have good insight. off-road can choose no moon roof if taller. I think residual on ORP is better too but not sure. The adaptive suspension bits might interfere with mods and the Tacoma guys say not much difference anyway.

There is a trim guide above, that should be helpful. I switched from Sport Premium to ORP because I want the off road capability in case I need it, especially in tough winter conditions or if I decide to go off-roading with my brother (OG Land Cruiser owner), and (as I understand it) the ORP holds its value very well. The Limited looks nice but I don't care about many of its features (sun roof, leather seats etc.). I do like the painted fenders but not enough to pay for them. It really depends on your preferences. If you want a little more luxury, go for the Limited, and if you want more OR capability, then go for the ORP. To me, the ORP has plenty of bells and whistles, and offers the ability to mod (or allow others to mod) as necessary in the future.

Why not go with the TRD Off-Road over the OR Premium? The main differences between the two come down to creature comforts like the moonroof with sunshade and the digital rearview mirror—and adding those can push the price up by nearly $6,000 for features I personally don’t find essential.
Mechanically, both trims offer the same off-road hardware: locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and more. So from a capability standpoint, you’re not sacrificing anything by going with the standard TRD Off-Road.
I’d much rather save that money and invest it in meaningful upgrades—like tires, a lift, a roof rack, or other mods that actually enhance the vehicle’s utility and performance. Unless someone really wants a slightly more upscale interior or those specific tech features, the base TRD Off-Road makes a lot more sense to me.
I’m still deciding, but I’m definitely leaning toward the TRD OR. Unfortunately, it looks like dealerships in my area are pricing the vehicle $5K or more above MSRP with unnecessary add-ons, which makes the decision even trickier.

By your own words you would really be more comfortable in the Limited. The suspension in the Limited is more suited to street driving and will have less body roll. It also sounds like when you do go "off roading" it will be on some trails but nothing major. The Limited is still a 4Runner at heart and it's full-time 4WD with locking center diff, low range and A-TRAC can still hold it's own off road.

But the ORP is built for serious off roading, not just light trails but rock crawling and hardcore trails. This is Toyota's competitor to the Bronco and Wrangler after all. Its softer suspension is perfect for this but will have more body roll on the street. Off road tires will have a penalty in fuel efficiency and noise in daily driving compared to the Limited. MTS, Crawl Control and locking rear diff is great but if you don't do much off roading they don't serve a purpose. However it does sound like you would more likely use the comfort or sport+ mode to adjust variable suspension in the Limited as your daily driver.

Now you’ve got me rethinking my decision, not to go with the TRD Off-Road, but to consider the Limited instead. I've been getting quotes for the Off-Road trim, and pricing seems fairly consistent: around $49,190 base MSRP plus $5–6K in dealer markups or add-ons and Taxes etc..
The Limited, on the other hand, starts at $57,400 base MSRP, also with an estimated $5–6K added on. That puts the difference at around $8K overall. I'm just not sure if the extra cost is really worth it, considering what I'd be gaining.

I’m with @Pardhu. I’m waiting for my Limited, but I won’t do any off-roading. However, that aggressive look of 2-inch lift and aggressive tires would look great. I know very little about any of this, very new to this world. The 20 inch wheel and thinner side wall of tires on limited, to me, wouldn’t look right on a lift kit. For the enthusiasts that do know, would 17 or 18-inch wheels with more “aggressive looking” tire compromise mpg, overall ride feel and noise?
