I'll admit, I've gone down a tire rabbit hole, and I'm not sure where this will lead... It started as I was looking for a wider tire to mount on my 20x9.5" wheels to fill out the wells just a bit more.
Then I realized there are several 305/50-20s that are ultra high performance rated (still all seasons). Now, that size is probably a little small for me diameter-wise, but it got me thinking about whether anyone has tried them on a Lightning.
I even found Nitto drag radials in 305/50s, and it got me wondering why I haven't seen any 1/4 mile runs on a set of 4 of these. Sure, I wouldn't pay for them myself, but I am really curious if these could shave a few tenths from someone's 0-60 time!
In the end, I use my truck as a truck, so will probably end up with a less exciting AT tire. Given the Lightning brand history and the natural performance of the EV, it's disappointing to not see more street/strip performance wheel/tire setups out there, though. It sure would be fun to see, even if just to know what our trucks could do in terms of handling and acceleration with a set of sticky, small-diameter tires under them.
