I’m wondering if there is a way to upgrade the 30 amp plug to 50 amp. I had a 50 amp RV that was powered with a 5.5 generator so it seems that a 7.2kw would be capable of supporting a 50 amp load.

Just get an adapter cord there's like a million on Amazon.

If you need 50 amps I think the better option would be to see if you could find a parallel system that may tie the two circuits together after the plugs.

All that Kw generator is this. 240 hz to 50 amp plug

All that is needed is a NEMA L14-30P 4 prong locking male (connector on PB truck) to NEMA 14-50R female receptacle dog bone. There are a bunch on Amazon.

The 50Amp cord from the trailer plugs into the dog bone end.

The dog bone would let you pull up to 30 amps, if you tried to pull all 50 amps by running too much stuff the circuit breaker on the truck will trip. I don’t have mine yet so I don’t know if it is a physical breaker or electronic but by just going to the 1 outlet you’re still limited to the max amps.

Plenty of people are tripping the breaker on it already from surge current on things like AC compressors. It’s not going to give you any more power, it’s simple math. 240v x 30A = 7200W (7.2kW). Not going to magically make it supply more power by putting a different plug on it.

You can not draw 50a from PB.

edit: at 240 v

We will have to disagree.

There is another dog bone which has the NEMA L14-30P on one end and 2 RV style 3 prong receptacles. 2 30 Amp trailers can be powered at the same time.

This is not correct. This is the “dogbone” you are referring to: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P4DFX5...olid=1IEQX4I6QE2Q8&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Same one TFL Trucks tested. It is actually a splitter rated for a maximum of 3750 watts. What it does is tap one of the two circuits that feeds the generator socket and splits that one 3600 watt/30A circuit between two 30A RV sockets. Thus, you have a maximum of 30A that you can divide to power two RVs. You would blow the circuit if you tried to run two RVs each at 30A. You might even fry the splitter.

Maybe that particular splitter will not work, but the 7.2Kw "generator" can be used to power 2 30 amp travel trailers. Certainly can use a 50 amp dog bone and then plug a 50 amp to 2 30 amp splitter.

Thanks for the replies. But I’ve used adapters (dog bone) before that enabled me to plug my 50 amp RV to a 30 amp plug. While that does allow me to plug in, if I were to draw more than 30 amps, I would flip the circuit breaker. Seems that the same would occur with the PB. I’m not an electrician but it seems to me that if the PB can deliver 240v at 30amp (7.2 kw) that it should also be able to deliver 120v at 50amp (6 kw). 6 kw would be enough to power two rv a/c units. I’m wondering if there is a way to upgrade the the circuit breaker at the PB to 50 amp?

You have the potential energy there, but the way it works is you have 2 30A “legs” of power coming out of the inverter, each running at 120v. Each of those has breakers for 30A on them and only has wiring meant to support 30A.

You can run those in series to get 30A @240v which gives you the 7.2kw. Trying to get the higher amperage at 120v would require a special power supply that would take both 30A 120v legs as inputs (Presumably with a twist lock connector like the truck has) and then essentially combine them on output to give you whatever voltage/amperage you need. I’m sure you find such a thing somewhere, but it probably wouldn’t be cheap and would certainly complicate things quite a bit.

Yes. This is the TFL Trucks test I referred to. See the logo in the lower left. They were using the splitter I referenced. You can plug two RVs in at the same time but you cannot run them both at 30A at the same time. I have a Powerboost (do you?) and I know it doesn’t work.

The way to understand the Powerboost is that it doesn’t really have a single 7200 watt generator. It has two 3600W/30A/120V generators—an A and a B circuit. Those circuits can be bridged to produce 7200W/30A/240V or you can use them independently as separate generators at 3600W/30A/120V. But what you can’t do is combine the separate generators so that any one source can get 7200 watts at 120 volts. That would be 60 amps and the Powerboost can’t handle that. That was the OP’s question. Can he get 50 amps for one RV? No, he can’t. One caveat, however:

It is possible that his 50A RV actually uses two circuits at 30A/120V each. Then it might be possible to get 30A for one circuit and 15-20 amps for the other circuit using something like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0024E70L...olid=1IEQX4I6QE2Q8&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it But each circuit is still separate and still providing only 30A. It’s just you would effectively be using the PB’s two circuits at 30A each to power each of two RV circuits at 30A but you’d need to be very careful to check the RV’s wiring. Personally, I wouldn’t do it with my PB.
