DRL LED Bar brightness boosted using Forscan

Anyone looking for DRL LED Bar to go from dimmed to boosted bright, this is the only forscan mod you have to do. Works perfectly in all modes, including Bambi mode and marker mode. Stays bright all the time! Huge thanks to @Hectort713. Confirmed working in 2021 F-150 XLT, Lariat and Tremor. Other trims, comment below if working. As always, make a backup before doing this.

Really depends. Reason why Ford left it dim from factory is because they had complaints that it was too bright.. personally it isn’t. I’ve had this brightness boosted on my 2016 and 2020 F-150s, no issues in my area. Did the same on my 2021, no issues at all. So far I’ve gotten many people near me asking me how I did it lol, they want their LED brightened up more too. Really comes down if your preference.

If your low beams are off at night, doesn’t that mean your taillights are off too (when not braking, of course)? I see non-F150s running just DRLs with no taillights in the city frequently, and they’re tricky to see when behind them.

Forscan can enable your rear DRLs to be on with the front ones. I did that for mine for an even look after boosting the brightness.

@Platinum Peasant is right, you can choose which DRL modes you want in Forscan. However for me, my DRL is disabled on mode 1 where my DRL is auto on mode 3 on the switch. For low beams off at night, no. This only happens if the truck is on mode 1, which is DRL only (standard is front led bar stays on with tail light off). If you use mode 2, the low beams stay off but the front LED bar plus the tail lights stay on. If you look in the first post or the photo attached, you’ll see the truck is in mode 2. Front LED bar + markers are on as well as the fog lights AND the tail lights are on (mine is LED so my rear end has the tail light LED bar too).

Question @Nightshade , looking in the digital owners manual it seems to indicate the conditions below need to be met for the DRL to be on.

Well, I programmed these values, step out to look, and my DRLs are not on regardless of the position of the headlight switch. Is this because it is in park, did you take your pictures in neutral?

DRLs turn on from the factory when the vehicle is in Drive, not in Park. If you put it in Park, it will shut it off regardless. The one in my photo is my side marker mode (turn the light switch to mode 2). You will get the same thing as I did! However, if you'd like to test your DRL (Mode 1 on the light switch or in Mode 3 (auto) during the day), I would suggest you leave the door open, apply the electronic brake (like a hand/foot brake) and shift from Park to Neutral. If you attempt to do this without opening the door, the shifter will automatically go from whichever the shifter is into Park, as soon as you open the door. Be sure you are on a flat surface when attempting to do this. Don't put the shifter to Drive when attempting to check your DRL. Another way, find a reflection during the day and attempt it by watching through the glass or reflection.

Thanks for the response. Follow up - you keep mentioning "modes". The manual doesnt designate any modes so what are you referring to here? Are you referring to the four positions of the exterior lighting control dial which Ford calls A, B, C, & D?

No problem! Yeah the light dial that control your exterior lighting, sorry for the confusion; I got used to calling it mode lol.

I made this change and the upper light is super bright. No noticeable change to the lower light. Is there a way to change the brightness of the lower light or is this the way it is? Thanks
