F-150 Lightning Named 2024 Edmunds Top Rated Electric Truck

Edmunds has named the F-150 Lightning the 2024 Edmunds Top Rated Electric Truck, its second win in a row.

“Building on the appeal of the gas-powered F-150, the Lightning combines extra versatility with effortless performance," said Alistair Weaver, Edmunds editor-in-chief. "With its broad capability and rugged appeal, it feels less like an electric truck and more like a truck that just happens to be electric.”

Exactly how I describe my Lightning, and explain it to people.
Other companies are doing something different, but I feel like over all the years of truck improvement and design - the F-150 doesn't change much for a reason - it works.

Different can be good for some people.
Personally I don't think things should be different when it comes to safety / core vehicle features (yes talking about the stupid turn signals in the CyberTruck) but I'm just a regular person so what do I know.

I'm all for progress. For me, the Lightning is a huge step forward without destroying the "I like to get work done" image..... Because that's what I use the truck for.
Cybertruck image is different.... capabilities aside, the image for the typical target client is very different.... And that is ok.

I love the F150 LIGHTNING because it does NOT stick out in a crowd! Love it!

and, by the way, it just happens to be the MOST utilitarian of 'all' the ev trucks in the market...

and the most spacious,

and the most useable,

and with the most dealers,

and the most 'normal'..(thank you Ford)

Lightning is the most approachable and comfortable (not just physically) to live with. Tesla is laser focused on bringing the production cost down so they try to eliminate anything they can (even the driver). At the rate they are eliminating parts, I would not be surprised if this is what Model 2 will look like:



That may be ultimately a winning strategy and force everyone else to go that rout too but we are in a sweet spot where Ford can afford to give us buttons, multiple screens and spare tire.

Rivian scared me off when I saw quotes of $40K to fix a fender bender otherwise it is a well built truck with better software.

I saw that video this morning before stumbling across that thread.

And I needed it…I got so frustrated with my truck in the shop with a failed module that I asked about trade-in value this morning. (Un?)Fortunately, their trade offer was ridiculously low, and this video reminded me of how great the Lightning is.

I’m in a brand-new EcoBoost F150 as a loaner. It’s a nice truck with lots of power, but the entire experience feels like swapping my LED lightbulbs for whale oil lamps. After four years of driving an EV, I couldn’t be happy in another gas burner, and the Lightning is a fantastic truck.

As Lightning Commuter I’ve laid down just shy of 16,000 miles in 7 months with a quick trip to Montana thrown in for good measure. The truck is awesome. Best grand touring pickup truck I’ve ever had (though my high school F-100 still brings back fond memories).
