For reference, I ordered a Ford Lariat ER. I drive a 21' Volvo XC 90, a 21' 2 dr Bronco...so you know how to interpret my opinion based on what I drive.

I have to say, I was disappointed with how it looked, felt, and drove in Sport mode, especially for the $80K price tag.

The Good:
-The truck is quick. It is very quick from the start, fast at 45 MPH, and fast at 65MPH. No matter your speed, when you put the pedal down...it just moves and climbs quickly.
-It corners well, really well. I felt stupid confident on exit ramps, even at speed, with the truck. It stayed seated and felt like it was on rails.
-The plugs, ports, etc are great.
-The frunk is ample and I love that use of space.
-Driving in Normal Mode was great and felt good.

The Bad:-The front end and grill look very cheap, and I was very underwhelmed, especially for an $80k vehicle.
-The wheels look terrible.
-Sport mode was fast, but I hated how it drove. The truck lunged too much and any relief off the "gas"pedal, caused it to slow dramitcally (it was not in 1-pedal mode)
-Personal Preference, they made this vehicle way too big.

Overall, I would really like it in the $50K range, but at $80K, I just can't make the connection.

I hope this doesn't rain on anybody's parade.

In my opinion, Sport mode is more of a byproduct of the truck being electric, not really a feature. Electric vehicles are inherently fast, but majority of people arent getting this truck to drive it around in sport mode. Sorry you werent a fan though. At least someone in your area will get a lariat earlier than expected for a hefty markup :)

I appreciate you sending this out there, especially in a forum where people are likely to flame a bit at the post. Nonetheless, I think maybe this truck isn’t for you because it’s not a sports, lifestyle truck. It’s not an SVT, not a smaller (I’m guessing more agile) Rivian. I can see why you’re not into it, but my guess is others will like it for what it was built to be.

So the dealer let you take it out for a drive before purchase? I guess it is in his best interest if you don't buy it since they can sell it for a big markup.

Fair opinion. What did you expect from sport mode? It is a heavy ass full size truck.

The grill and wheels are fixable, but should work for you considering the price.

I hear you. It didn't drive like a large vehicle, which was good, but it is just very long. It stuck pretty far out in the parking space, so much even the salesperson remarked about it.

At the end of the day, I asked myself, "is this twice as good as the Bronco I paid $40K for?", and I just can't see it based on how it was built. YMMV though, and I am certain somebody will enjoy it.

Of course, are dealers not letting people test drive theirs?

To be honest, Sport Mode was to unpleasant to drive, I had to turn it off. It wasn't the acceleration, but how quickly it decelerated when I took my foot off the pedal. In Normal mode, there is some coasting, but not the same with Sport mode.

OP, thanks.

There's probably no easy way for you (or anyone) to ever know, but I'd be really curious what it sells for.

I definitely think the value proposition makes more sense for the Pro at $40k than it does for the Lariat that I bought. At these higher trims, perhaps a lifestyle truck like the Rivian will make sense for more people that expect more responsiveness than the Lightning.

It's just like the gas F150s. Grill and wheels can be upgraded. As far as the price, go find ANY full size pickup with ventilated seats and a panoramic roof for under 70k. Your opinion means nothing. My 2 cents. Have a good weekend
