Mods. Please close, problem solved. Amp Power Steps install help

So after reading a few of us have installed the Amp Power steps with minor modification, I decided to pull the trigger.

I received them and got the truck modified to accept them and ran all the wires.

And that is where I’m stuck. They won’t operate. I have isolated it to the OBD2 port. When I ground the purple wires, it works fine.
Amp won’t help me. Won’t cross reference anything and pretty much said tough luck.

If you have the steps, can you tell me the number on the dongle itself that you have. Not the steps kit part number, but the dongle itself.

Update: Skyak helped me figure out what I did wrong. There are 2 wires that need to be tapped into under the dash. One is a white with green line. That’s easy to find. The other is a green with blue line. That I mistook as solid green and tapped into green with a purple line. That was my mistake.

I have them up and running and HUGE thank you to Skyak.

Hi, the two wires you tap into should be right beside each other. Did you select the correct ones? I made this mistake initially due to the wire marking not being exactly as it says in the instructions.

Also, don’t mention that you have a lightning when you call them. Just give them the year and trim.

Can I ask a favor and see a picture of the two wires you tapped? I looked for a solid 5 minutes before I found the green with a blue stripe and white with green.

Ido not recall if they were directly next to each other.

And I just checked, mine are not right beside each other. My white with green line has a solid green next to it.

ok. i think you need to move the tap on the outside to be beside the wire located on the inside of the connecter

The only time I need the running boards is when entering or leaving the cab of the truck or I am driving down the road where they protect the sides of the truck from debris coming up with the tires and getting tossed at the truck. Retracting the runing boards while the truck is parked accomplishes nothing to my eyes. but evidently others have a different perspective.
