Maybe others? But I'm not insulted.

The FordPass app product managers and developers aren't stupid. They've got app analytics (they use Amplitude) and know exactly how frequently people use each distinct feature. Prioritization and feature turn-down are the death and taxes of software development. And when a specific feature requires a disproportionate amount time and effort (money) in relation to observed usage, and especially when there are exist third-party alternatives, pruning features is almost certain.

My guess is the FordPass team is gauging customer sensitivity and figuring out what to prioritize next based on community response and feedback. They know what people use objectively through analytics and metrics. What they don't know is how people subjectively feel about cut features.

For instance, trip planning was cut in the new app. But that is a feature that, on average, is not used frequently given most people travel within a known commute near their home with infrequent travel events away from their "home base". Analytics might indicate this as a not-so-valued feature in the old app, but when used was high impact to the owner. Difficult to capture that impact without getting feedback.
Some of us have had this app for close to a year, provided feedback, were sometimes underwhelmed by the "new features". They had a chance to mimic the one app that pretty much makes driving an EV easy and. they didn't.

I will say that this app is for both EV's and ICE which is probably the problem.

I understand the frustration, although "morally right" is an over the top exaggeration.

You are also correct here. Which is why I outlined earlier that they may be using feature removal as a proxy for feature prioritization. I'm not justifying the practice, just providing a possible reason to discover the subjective input needed to make some product decisions.

But I am curious, if you researched the truck enough to know what features would be present in the FordPass app before purchase (I didn't), did you also review before purchase Ford's legal terms of use agreement that allows them to make changes to the FordPass app and indemnifies them from legal recourse?

The new app is missing many features from the old app that I found useful, especially trip planning. I reverted back to the original version which I find better. Also, hopefully you’re not going to google maps only for navigation?

Please bring back the zone lighting and trip planning. It's much more convenient to plan a long trip on my couch over sitting in my garage.

Just noticed I don't have the heated steering wheel option showing up in the app even though I have it.

Hi F-150 Lightning owners! If you recently updated your FordPass® app, you may have noticed it looks a little different. We are pleased to share that we have rolled out a newly designed app that is easy to use and efficient to help you better manage your vehicle remotely.
Here is what is new:
  • Simplified Experience: We have reduced the number of steps it takes to access functions and made it easier to find them. As an EV owner, you can enjoy a simplified slider for target charge. Also, instead of having to press and hold to turn the vehicle ‘on’, it is now a simple tap.
  • Remote Climate Control: As a Lightning owner you will be able to control your truck's climate control and windshield defrost, as well as heated seats and steering wheel (if equipped), all from the app. Similar to the Remote Start feature, Remote Climate Control helps you conveniently prepare your truck before getting in to drive.
  • Apple Watch Integration: If you have an Apple Watch, in addition to lock/unlock and remote start/stop you will also be able to use the following features from your wrist:
    • View battery level and range
    • View charging status, including: Charging speed, Next departure time based on when desired charge is reached, Current preferred charging window
    • View vehicle location
    • Activate horn and lights remotely
We are also continuing to improve in-app experience with this latest version. If you notice a feature you previously used before is no longer there, don’t worry, the feature can still be accessed via your in-vehicle touchscreen.

We love to hear from our owners so let us know what you think and if you have any questions about FordPass!

Please note: FordPass® App, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available via a download. Message and data rates may apply.

Adding the Zone Lighting, On-board power and trip planner would be really beneficial. Love the speed and new features, but may go back till these are added. Thanks

Other than calling @Ford Motor Company , I don’t see a way to submit app issues.
my attached pic shows my charging session will end at 2:07am.
it was about 1pm when I took the pic.
it will actually finish about 2:07pm

I like the new design and the responsiveness, it’s very quick.

The removal of trip planner is disappointing, that would be the biggest item in my opinion that needs to be added back in. I realize that you can still plan trips in the cab, but it was way more convenient to be able to do so on the phone. Second item to add back would be zone lighting.

I’m glad Ford continues to put effort into these products, even with the negative press and slower market. Please keep that effort up.

I like the look, but as others pointed out, it no longer has support for the Zone lightning, which definitely comes in handy.

Also, I found myself accidentally locking, unlocking and turning on the climate control more than a few times.

What I'd really like to see is a quick status of some core things, with confirmations if possible when you change something, so you can prevent accidental taps.

For example:

Show the Light Status: Are any LIGHTS ON?
Includes zone, interior, headlights, bed lights. Offers peace of mind so we can check the status from a distance.

Show the Lock status: Are all the doors currently LOCKED?
This gives us peace of mind when we wonder if we accidentally forgot to lock the truck, or if we accidentally unlocked it. Being able to check on your phone does wonders for worrying that we left the doors open.

Show the Frunk / Tailgate / door status: Did we leave anything OPEN?
Another peace of mind feature.

Show the running Status, is the truck TURNED ON?
I've made trips into grocery stores and realized I forgot to turn it off. With a silent vehicle, it's easy to forget, so being able to check from a distance is a plus.

At the bottom of the screen on the new app, there’s a button that allows you to revert to the old app if you want.
Yep, I did, the new app has less info as the old app, and does not show current info. Have my truck plugged in to charge and does not show me that. I give the app a half thumb up, and half a thumb down. 👍👎
