Ford isn't using Android automotive?
I hear it is coming Soon™

Already in 2022, Ford had barely launched the Lightning and was talking about Android Automotive for Lightning, then it was delayed to 2023, and then it got very quiet.

Back in 2022 they also said that already delivered vehicles wouldn't be able to upgrade, and since not much have changed on the infotainment front (for Lightnings) I doubt that existing gen will get it.

I just bought a new car with Android Automotive. Sadly, it makes the system in our Lightnings feel 10 years dated.

The biggest benefit I've seen (besides the built-in dashcam) is how snappy it is. Sync 4A feels like a sloth now.

Again, not a Tesla. The F150 like most modern vehicles has like 29 different interconnected electronic modules that are purpose built industrial devices to do certain specific functions. Every module has its own software. Adding the ability to record video to a flashdrive is not happening. Everyone would love it. And also we can realistically comprehend it isn't going to happen.

A Tesla is more like a computer with wheels. The capability was already there from the start and only required a software update to the computer to record video. It was awesome. I miss the feature on my old Model 3. But it is an entirely different animal.
