LOL!
I've used the same analogy a few times!
"C'mon, we live in an age where we (mankind) can catch rockets falling from the sky, I'm sure we (our company) can figure out how to...."
And, no, I'm not in sales 😉 I'm just an engineer trying to convince other engineers that we should do something.
And a quick Google search implies that Rivian is suffering from the "same" issues the Lightning would gave had (12v drain, premature "wear" on the LVB, and vampire drain on the HVB) if that feature would be implemented with our current HW / infrastructure.
Let's not forget the power infrastructure.
All that stuff would run off of the LVB and on the low end running all those cameras plus the recorder, LTE modem so you can get notifications, etc. would probably draw around 2-3A Which means the LVB wouldn't last a day.
So, bigger LVB and/or add a...
Is anyone else having issues getting their lightnings looked at for the scheduled maintenance ?
Two different dealerships have basically refused to do it since I rotate my own tires (I rin dedicated winters) and I just replaced my wipers and cabin filter so theres nothing left for them yo...
Take your truck in for this TSB, it includes the BCM which is what you need for WAL and it's one you can't update yourself through FDRS.

The Maverick shifter is already all black, so I was tempted to go with it instead of the escape version, although I don't think it's illuminated / has any ambient lighting. Does anyone know if it does or not?
Thank you very much for sharing this !
I have another question...
What is the purpose of the little "step-down" at the back and the three different holes ?
i.e. can any of them be deleted if Im not doing a charger and/or the storage containers?
I would rather had gone down that route, but I'm guessing the mothership would want to put in the proper button in the center or a blue lightning bolt instead of the standard M/L/S so now the shifter is a unique part number along with the tub and I'm guessing theres not enough interest beyond a...
Those were my thoughts as well and why I stated in the other thread (module vs. assembly) that I was surprised it's a plug-n-play swap. But then again, most people would be none the wiser unless they actually connect to the car to check out any DTCs.
Thank you to everyone providing the details / facts.
Even at this age you learn something new every day !
That makes it really interesting / surprising that switching out the shifter for a rotary is plug and play since you're now (apparently) switching out one of the modules as well.
Not to split hairs, but I think they actually call the physical shifter an "assembly", hence the confusion, at least on my part.

Well, no, all I was saying is that I think OP was referring to the computer module, but "everyone" is responding to the thread as if it was the physical shifter and as far as I know they're not the same / a single unit.
Sorry if I missed it, but with this version I'm assuming that you have to cut the mounting tabs off the shifter since it appears that it drops in from the top rather than screws in from the bottom ?
Is it a tight squeeze or is double sided tape or something recommended to hold it in place/make...
Just for people's clarification...
Is OP referring to the computer module (GSM) that translates shifter signals into computer speak, or the actual/physical shifter ?
They're not the same and most people are responding to this thread as if they are.
Thought the same thing !
Today was the first day it was warm enough for the AC to run here as well.
I did remote start mine and when I came outside a few minutes later it was making the same grinding noise as in my video earlier in the thread. I need to take mine in for the 20,000mile service...
