  1. Somebody check my math on monthly charging cost?

As part of my continued research, I'm trying to estimate how much I'll be spending per month charging based on miles. Here is my calculation, first attempt so not sure if I'm doing this right or not. ~650 miles per month ~2.0 miles per kWh = 325 kwh per month for charging? (looking at a few...
  2. Went to check one out in person today

This! This is great info, thanks. When I first started researching the Lightning I figured with an ER battery and Ford saying 320 miles real world distance was probably around 250 miles or so depending on state of charge, environmental conditions and type of driving. Then I was reading...
  3. Went to check one out in person today

Thanks for the info. As part of my research I've downloaded the app and created an account on the site to play with the trip planner using it for a few of the trips I've taken. So is the consensus anything more than 100 miles plan ahead and find charging? For example, a couple of weeks ago...
  4. Went to check one out in person today

So quick update, I talked to my power company and unfortunately they don't offer much of an incentive for EV charging aside from a small credit. Looks like the cost for charging at home is ~.15 per kWh. And of course, would still need to figure out home charging. I'm comparing to the Ford...
  5. Went to check one out in person today

This is about where I'm at, just trying to justify the higher cost of the Lightning over an ICE truck.
  6. Went to check one out in person today

I had the rotary shifter in my Ram 1500, little awkward at first but the additional space in the center console was great! Anybody fold the shifter and use the table to eat something or play some cards while waiting to charge?
  7. Went to check one out in person today

So I went to a Ford dealership that had a Lightning that I would be interested in (Lariat ER) and was finally able to check one out in person. Full disclosure this is the first EV I've really looked at up close and driven so I went in with the attitude of how does this compare to my ICE trucks...
  8. ‘biggest scam of modern times’

Did this guy really spend that much money and didn't do his research, who does that? I've been combing through this forum as part of my research (lots of great info, btw) as I decide what to do, not gonna just jump into a decision like this. The irony is that he was probably fooled by Corp...
  9. What terrible person does this?

Unfortunately probably more likely some greenie thinking they're just keying a large vehicle and not realizing it's an EV. No shortage of stories of trucks and SUVs being targeted. Either way, still pretty pathetic to target someone's property regardless of where you fall.
  10. Time to buy or wait?

For me I'm running the numbers to see which is the best deal assuming I'm able to claim the fed tax rebate.
  11. Time to buy or wait?

I'm in the same predicament of whether or not to buy now or wait. And also used vs new. Since I may be able to claim the fed tax rebate I'm watching prices on both now. Of course they're still all over the place with some dealers trying to still charge over MSRP on new and close to MSRP on...
  12. Are you always plugged in at home?

Since I'm OP; it was more of a question of what do others do as my situation doesn't necessarily allow me to charge every day. I don't have enough power where I garage my truck to charge all the time. Not trying to treat like a gas car, just trying to maintain my current routine.
  13. Are you always plugged in at home?

Thanks all for the replies. Guess I should have included my driving habits. Since I work from home I don't drive my truck daily. I may use it a few days in a row and then it may sit for several days. Including a few road trips throughout the year I still only do about 7500 miles in a year.
  14. Are you always plugged in at home?

I'm looking into the logistics of owning a Lightning and home charging while trying to figure out my situation. I normally park my truck in my detached garage, however, I don't have enough power there to charge a decent rate. I'd be looking at installing some type of charging source in my...
  15. How far have we gone? Your Lightning mileage?

Very encouraging seeing so many owners with plenty of miles and little to no issues. Especially considering how new this truck is.
  16. How do you use your Lightning?

Thanks all for the feedback so far, sounds like if I needed haul another 500lb box blade or pull a heavy utility trailer the truck can handle it and it's not just an electrified mall crawler or grocery getter.
  17. How do you use your Lightning?

With the recent price drop on the Lightning I'm thinking about pulling the trigger but I'm curious how folks are using their trucks. Are people using it to do truck stuff (hauling/towing stuff)? And if so, how well does it handle it?
  18. 2023 F-150 Lightning gets price cuts! (7/17/23). Pro now starts at $51,990. XLT priced from $56,990

Another newbie checking in here after seeing the price decreases. Definitely more attractive to jump in now with the price drops. Doing some searches I'm already seeing prices have come down a lot on used trucks as well as discounts off of new ones. I'd rather go new, but a hell of a deal on...
