Just got off the phone with Ford Lightning Support. They provided me some information that they said was just released to them ten minutes ago (I asked the to re-iterate twice to confirm what I am writing below):
August 11th: Wave 1 -- invitations for all the extended reservation (Pro Only)...
Any bets on what the "Private Offer" will be for those like me who extended their reservation? I'd guess they split the difference between old and new pricing?
It just went live for me; not sure if they are rolling it out in waves or what since it was live for others previous to when I could see it.
I tried in incognito mode and logged in to my account and it made no difference to what I saw.
Night-of reservation; confirmed #1 on priority list at a medium-sized dealer with no MSRP. The dealer had one truck allocated in early 2022 who declined; I got the invite to order in wave 7 but kicked to the next year so I could have a chance to get a Pro.
Dealer states that they do not know...
My frugal side is leaning Pro, strictly as the best bang for the buck.
My 40-year old body, getting achier by the day, is leaning towards the creature comforts of the Lariat.
I think it may come down to what's available quickest when my order wave comes up.
This echoes my thoughts on the Model-year switch and how many are built in MY 22-23.
If they start producing consumer units in March, then there are 6 months of production, averaging a couple of grand or so trucks a month, 12k total, which is in line with the median of estimates I am seeing...
