I *believe* this is the adapter that Ford itself provided with some of the earliest Lightnings:

It's also no good for people who have the EA pass to get discounted rates.
Similarly, I had to turn off Plug+Charge because then I'd have to pay full price vs activating through the EA app.
Do V2s still outnumber V3s?
A quick look at supercharge.info, filtering for USA only:
>=150kW (v2+v3) = 1,755 locations
>=250kW (v3) = 1,226 locations
That would mean V2 locations would be just 529 locations vs 1,226 V3 locations.
Now, maybe some of those V3 locations were originally V2...
Like you said, it's definitely use case dependent.
I've driven through Tennessee and driven up and down I-75 in Georgia multiple times, and it's been fine.
ER would be nice, of course, and I'm not going way off the beaten path, so that would make it worse, but just agreeing/supporting your...
My experience is very similar to @spadesaspade , but I'll add a couple comments.
We've done three 1,000+ mile trips in ours and typically we have to stop every 80-120 miles to charge. Why? Because that's just how the chargers are often spaced, in my experience.
Also, at normal interstate...
I adjusted the stoppers down a little bit and it still seems plenty tightly closed, but creaks less. It sounded like it was going to break something before.
Biggest risk with Supercharging is that it won't reach the port on the Lightning without taking up two stalls. Otherwise, I'd definitely rather use Superchargers, too. They just work better than "musical chairs" at EA to find one that works right. And Walmarts are "reliable" that they're there...
FWIW, I use that Lectron adapter for L1 charging almost every day, adapting a Tesla mobile connector to my Lightning. Build quality seems decent. Haven't actually used it for L2, yet, though, and I probably wouldn't try to use it for more than 40A continuous.
Has this been confirmed? It seemed like a generous interpretation of a vague comment, originally.
Tesla Supercharging is going to be my go-to in some areas where CCS is straight trash (near the FL/GA line, for instance).
No one changes prices because they reduced costs: Ford, Tesla, or otherwise.
They're balancing market value, production, etc.
But this was necessary. Pricing was too high. $52k for Pro is very competitive, now, though. After tax credit, it's the same price as the cheapest, zero option...
This seems like bad news masquerading as good news since they weren’t even delivering Lightnings until the end of the 5th month of 2022, meaning there was only 1 full month in the first half of last year where they were even delivering Lightnings… yet they only tripled that one month with 6...
Yeah, this is a dumb warning. I'm not even sure what it's supposed to mean, since it seems like the full view WOULD be available if there wasn't a dumb warning in the middle of it. Maybe it's saying you can't get the "full" 360* view? (Which is obvious without the warning)
Not sure, but the...
SOMEBODY at AAA involved in the testing or publishing or whatever should have thought : "Hmm, this seems REALLY high. 33% road load increase from a 20% increase in weight despite no increase in aero drag?!" They should have done even a quick "real-world" test to see if it made any sense. 20...
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. For instance, if "neutral" still has a tiny bit of regen, or something like that. Although, that wouldn't explain why the unladed and laden tests are so far apart.
I think the Rivian lost more range than the Lightning in their testing, and they attributed that to the water tank sticking up substantially more above the Rivian's cabin, but barely above the Lightning's cabin. Same point you were making, I think, but just a swap of which truck mostly blocked...
