Yes, I dropped my trailer off to get a water leak repaired. Everything worked fine. When I picked it up, all the lights worked, but no brakes. A squeeze of the controller gave the “no trailer” pop up. Multiple reinsertions of the 7-pin made no difference.
Stopped and grabbed some grease and put...
The build your own website showed a TPMS + Customer Installed Camera option, seemingly implying that the truck could support it. The question is did that change the wiring harness in the build.
Others have mentioned the camera requires a 12V source, so maybe the two wire interface is a serial...
I noticed this same thing. Adding some conductive grease to the 7-pin connector leads solved it. Maybe the way this trailering system senses the trailer is a bit sensitive to poor connections.
I will probably stick with my aftermarket unit that allows me to view the camera while moving. But I still don’t like the second display...so if they address that limitation then take my money!
What I really want now is TPMS to go along with the YAW sensor!
My thought would be to modify a panel in the tonneau cover an add a pass through - maybe something like an aftermarket locking gas door. It could then be locked until you route the cable through. The trick would be to not access to the tonneau lock mechanism.
Yes, when using CarPlay, a press & release of the voice commad button accesses the SYNC4 and a press & hold activates Siri. I am wanting a physical button or knob to traverse menus with instead of using the touchscreen.
Our old G80 used a rotary knob with a push button in the console to...
Every other car I have used CarPLay on provides the ability to interact with CarPlay using physical buttons, knobs, etc. on the vehicle. For SYNC4 in the F-150, I have not found an physical controls that interact with CarPlay: I can only interact via the touchscreen.
Am I missing something?
I like the shape of the Platinum wheels, but it is a bit too much chrome for me. I also don’t want to drop $$$ on all new wheels.
Can a chrome wheel be powder coated? If so, would it hold up reasonably well? Is that cost effective compared to all new wheels?
Thanks!
Great write-up! I am curious just how stealthy we can make the truck.
So we can turn off the exterior lights and the SYNC display manually, but I am assuming the dash stays up. And, I would guess the proximity setting should be turned off to prevent outside lights & power running boards...
Those look like thye would interfere with a tonneau cover. I want racks that would allow the tonneau to close & open. I am looking at the LEER HF650M since it is a 4 panel unit, making the panel height when folded up shorter.
I am in DFW area as well.
It’s pretty quick. I haven’t really timed it, but I easily get in on and inflated in < 20 minutes at a casual pace.
I think in a pinch I could have it on it on in 1-2 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to inflate.
Good point about the crash protection - I wasn’t going to mess with one, but with a painted body color bumper, I might was to give myself a bumper pad.
I am leaning in a different direction.
I have an FX4, no lift, stock wheels, but I am thinking of going to 305/55r20 E2. I am not looking for additional height, but want a wider tire.
Has anyone tried that? Any issues with rubbing?
I had to put a 10-15 mile tow with my < 8000# trailer at @ 800 miles on the truck. This that causes a failure in the truck, then the truck is more fragile than is should be.
