  1. Should Ford Have Their Own Fast Charging Hubs?

Maybe it's time to consider it! Why not control the charging experience? https://electrek.co/2023/01/05/chargepoint-and-mercedes-benz-team-up-to-bring-hundreds-of-fast-charging-hubs-to-ev-drivers/
  2. Should Ford Have Their Own Fast Charging Hubs?

Its to early to tell if that will effect their bottom line. The stock is not currently being valued like it will. 2024 POS credit + Highland TM3 + Cybertruck + SC opening = TSLA down -26% YTD. I don't believe the roll out and actually use case will be the panacea that CCS owners are looking...
  3. Should Ford Have Their Own Fast Charging Hubs?

NOTE: Improved the Title name after posting ;) “BYD overtakes VW Group as China’s best selling car brand”. VW held this distinction for 15 years straight. Chinese auto makers are expanding rapidly into markets all over the world. Elon Musk commented recently on an earnings call that without...
  4. Trade value shock

The TMY LR I just purchased for $41K OTD with all incentives would have cost me $71k in 2022. Is it possible you overpaid due to lower rates keeping payments affordable and now the opposite is happening? New car prices will rise when rates go down and will drag trade-in values upward. I would...
  5. 3 Common Mistakes That May Harm Your EV Battery - Engineering Explained

I have no complaints with its cold weather performance. I can almost equal my summer efficiency in winter when not using heat.
  6. 3 Common Mistakes That May Harm Your EV Battery - Engineering Explained

Kyle Conner (Out of Spec) has mentioned that early Audi eTrons charge better in cold weather, due to the high Nickel content in the battery. I have noticed excellent DCFC speeds with the Lightning even with minimal preconditioning. My TMY has poor cold weather charging performance in...
  7. Lightning Owner Drives a Cybertruck

I have owned a 2023 Pro for a year now. The only comments I receive on the truck is regarding the color (avalanche). Almost no one knows it's an EV unless they were looking to buy one. In 2022 many forum members were eagerly paying over $100k+ for Platinum trims with markups. Most Lightnings...
  8. First Road Trip in my new Pro SR!

Apple Maps EV routing doesn’t make me miss my Model Y route planning as much. It’s very good, typical Apple stuff! Apple announced today it is pushing its car out to 2028. I don’t think Apple has any intention in making a car, like they had no intention in making a TV. They will make the...
  9. First Road Trip in my new Pro SR!

Yup, I will precondition to DCFC via Fords navigation and run Apple Maps on my phone. I would prefer 1-touch DCFC preconditioning and the temperature of the battery. I believe Porsche Taycan has both of these capabilities.
  10. First Road Trip in my new Pro SR!

I would use Apple Maps with EV routing. It will continually track the SOC to your destination. I ignore the GOM. I track my efficiency with the current trip meter (miles per kWh). The SR has a 98kWH usable battery so it makes calculations easy. I start all trips with a preconditioned...
  11. Second winter with our Lightning... just put a deposit on a Ramcharger. Public charging is awful

I am concerned as a heavy user of both EA and SC. I am already seeing more Tesla's SC due to the recent incentives. It's so seamless on the SC side, that no one talks to each other. That will change once open chargers start getting blocked or Ride Sharing Bolts, Niro's, Kona's show up. Their...
  12. Tesla Superchargers

That's a good looking chargerđź‘Ť. I like what Mercedes is doing with ChargePoint and branding chargers. I'm honestly surprised a legacy hasn't done this sooner. Unfortunately CHPT is trading like it's going bankrupt, down 80% since the SC announcement. I think ChargePoint has good hardware and...
  13. Tesla Superchargers

I take it you haven't DCFC often? The CCS network can be challenging and unreliable for many users. The SC is ubiquitous, reliable, and simple to use. Peak charging speeds don't matter unless you arrive at a lower SOC and only plan on charging 15 mins. I am perfectly fine with the SR charging...
  14. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

Tesla's direct sales model using their app is another advantage other manufacturers can't replicate. It's the software advantage again. You buy the car online, complete the required sections, communicate via messaging and finalize the sale all thru the Tesla app. I bought 2 Tesla's in 2023...
  15. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

Watch the video, it defines what is a software defined vehicle. The legacies are playing a different game at this time. ICE subsidizes BEV development and losses. Unless there is a break thru in battery chemistry, it is not a sustainable business model. Toyota was wise to stay in the PHEV...
  16. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

They need to produce a software defined vehicle to be economically competitive vs Tesla. The battery is too expensive to allow for scale, so costs must be reduced in other areas. All legacy manufacturers are losing money producing BEVs. The Lightning platform is not sustainable at current...
  17. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

The CT is for anyone who wants it. The Lightning was my first truck because it was an EV. Ford disclosed previously that many Lightning buyers were 1st time truck buyers and also new to the brand. You can argue that “real truck owners” don’t buy electric pickups, at least yet! A Super Duty is...
  18. Extended Range V.S Standard Range Battery

I went with SR PRO due to the 🤩 cost . A 98kWh battery is still huge for a BEV. The technology and pro power packages were more important to me than ER. The technology is advancing so quickly, it’s too risky paying over $50k for an BEV after incentives. Future Lightnings will have to adopt...
  19. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

SC access won’t be as ubiquitous and straightforward with non Tesla’s. The Tesla app is currently required for non Tesla charging and I don't expect that to change at least initially. My 800V Ioniq 5 charged fast, but didn’t use 4680 cells. Hopefully Tesla can improve charging speeds with OTA...
  20. Come backs when people tout the CT as being magically way better than your Lightning

Nice list 👍 The big wins for CT are 800V, 48V, and the steering system. As an early Lightning Pro owner price wins most debates. That aside, I will accept delivery of a non foundation CT when my # is called. I also own a Model Y and the Tesla software and DCFC advantage isn’t debatable.
