I found a new set "take off" Larriat leather seats covers on Ebay for $137 and I have started installing them in my XLT. Since the XLT doesn't have a rear middle seat arm rest, I'm going to sew in a piece of leather from the armrest to the seat back to make a flat panel to match the seat.
I was able to fully test the brake controller this weekend with this 26’ rental trailer. It worked great. The only downside I noticed was using cruise control on hilly roads, it would activate the brakes on downhills… it was a lot smoother to drive without cruise control the hilly sections.
I found a dealership with a trailer brake module kit in stock. I installed the module and the dash switch, enabled the sync gain and trailer module in the IPC and trailer module in the TRM with forscan. I tested it and it worked! No errors or faults.
What model of truck do you have? ...and what factory options does it have. I saw one note showing a different part number is required if you have rear parking sensors. (which I have)
Thanks for the info. I just called around and one of our local dealers has ML3Z-19H332-AA in stock, so I'm going to pick it up and give it a try. I was able to find installation instructions which show removing the old module under the dash and then replacing it as well as installing the dash...
I finally took my truck to the dealer to try and program the trailer brake module after having trouble doing it myself in FORSCAN.... but they could not get it to work and now I have two faults pop up every time I start my truck. "Trailer brake module fault" and "Trailer wiring fault". I'm...
Damn!
I'm contemplating taking it to the dealer to see if they can get mine working.... but I'm going to keep searching forums etc... to see if I can find any other ideas first.
I'll let you know if I figure anything out. Keep me posted if you have any success. What is the part number of...
Dan, I’m glad that worked for you! I thought mine was working fine, but when I actually connected to trailer and squeezed the slider, I get a trailer disconnected error. I tried it with two different trailers. Have you tested yours with a trailer yet?
I noticed there are different part numbers from ford for the trailer brake control kits depending on if you have back up sensors, so I made sure mine came from a truck that had backup sensors.
I have an XLT ER with Max tow package. I bought a dash switch for the brake controller from eBay. I then used forscan to enable it and now it works. I followed these two YouTube videos:
I did the same thing. I have a XLT ER with Max Tow, but without the tow technology package. I bought a ford in dash trailer brake controller from an ICE truck from ebay. I compared the part number on my under dash module to someone else’s XLT truck with a Tow Tech package and the part number is...
