I got my brand new 2024 Lariat Lightning last week, and had it for 4 days. Then I got the dreaded service wrench indicator and "Powertrain Malfunction" error. Long story short turns out GSM is bad. I took my truck to my local dealer for service and was told that day (a Friday), that they would order a replacement and fix it under warranty within a couple of business days. I wasn't that worried, because we were going to be out of town for 3-4 days anyway and I told service that I'd get a loaner or my truck back when we got back. I called on Monday to check on the order of the parts to see when they would come in order to line up a loaner or a return of my truck. Then out of nowhere I was hit with, "Ford put a stop shipment on all GSM parts orders until they can do a part Quality Control review." This is of course due to all the GSM issues over the last few years in ALL F150's.

I lay all this out to ask, has anyone else tried to get this part replaced in the last few weeks? If so, did you get the part in or is it still on order? Lastly, anyone know how long these QC reviews can take by Ford? I now have a brand new truck with 477 miles on it basically parked at the dealer. I'm honestly beyond pissed at this point!

BTW I'm also super new here and I WAS loving my truck so much, but it's a bit ruined now. 😆 🫤😢

This is a common problem, I was never a fan of the folding shifter. It sounds like hell and always afraid its going to break. For that reason alone I never use my work table. Theres a thread where people are replacing it with the rotary shift knob, which I intend to do. FWIW, try folding and unfolding the shifter a couple of times, while guiding it back into the extended position with some force. Then if your able delete the DTC and see if it comes back.

I got my rotary shifter delivered a couple of days ago, now waiting on the printed part to show up. I probably will just keep the GSM just in case something goes south tho.

Just for people's clarification...

Is OP referring to the computer module (GSM) that translates shifter signals into computer speak, or the actual/physical shifter ?
They're not the same and most people are responding to this thread as if they are.

I had a similar experience when I first got my lightning. The big orange wrench appeared on the dash and I took it to the dealer and they kept it three weeks. They replaced the problem the parts and then it died on the road two more times and I had to take it to a different dealership per Ford. Once I’ve got it back it has been great and I am very happy in my lightning again. I hope it works out well for you. Sometimes things happen. Give them a chance it’s an amazing truck.

I'm just referencing the part that my service advisor told me needed to be replaced and Ford said was under a quality review.

Could you post snap shots of the two (multiple) work orders showing which parts were changed out, @mr.Magoo alludes to the possibility of multiple parts under suspicion.
