Simply put, this first generation of the Lightning is a failure. It was an early Ford cash grab to take advantage of all the early adopters. Give it another 8 years or so for the “revolution” to catch on, if it ever does.
Once the Silverado EV and Ram Revolution are released, prices are guaranteed to go lower. It’s the simple economics of supply and demand. Early adopters will pay premium until EVs are common on the road. These are the same people that paid tens of thousands for plasma TVs when they came out. Lol
I will have to take back my ignorant statement and let everyone know that the truck actually arrived on Monday before the EV tax credit deadline. Once the truck finally left Detroit it arrived incredibly fast to southern Cali which seemed like a week. Even though I canceled my order, the dealer...
I could be wrong, but if the dealer cancels prior to shipment, then the truck can be rerouted to another dealer from my understanding. Right now it’s word of mouth that I’m not taking delivery, but all online documentation has my name attached to it. The dealer said I might have to submit the...
My truck had a Nov 7th built date and as of today, it’s still at the factory waiting shipment. Some trucks with the same trim level (Lariat) we’re built weeks after mine and have shipped. So conspiracy theory or not, I have every reason to speculate Ford Corp or dealer behind the scenes actions...
What exactly is the priority order based off of chip availability? And what exact chip are we talking about? Does each trim level use a unique module, or are the chips standard across the board? Without these facts, you are creating a conspiracy theory yourself.
I bet Ford delayed the production and shipment of locked in MY22 pricing knowing that people would cancel their order since they would lose out in the EV tax credit. That way they can sell it for full (and markup) pricing. We’ll it worked, because I canceled my order, but in return they lost a...
The F-150 ruled the ICE pickup truck world for decades, but mass produced EV vehicles is relatively new. I think the title for future best selling EV pickup trucks is up for grabs. Only time will tell who will take the title, but for now all manufacturers are at the starting line.
I recommend attending an International Auto Show like I did last month in LA. That puts things into perspective. I canceled my already built order as soon I arrived home. The Lightning looked like an extinct dinosaur compared to what the competition had lined up to take over the EV market. It’s...
I received my refund confirmation by email while sitting in the dealers office . He literally checked a box on his screen and voila my refund was processed in an instant.
What I meant is the dealer controls the refund. You can’t do it. Its on their program that only they control. Not even Ford Corp can refund you. It’s up to the dealer. That’s why I question if they will give your money back to you since it’s easy to do on their end.
I just went through this a few days ago when I canceled my order because I did not think the truck was worth waiting for any longer. To answer the question, it’s the dealer that holds your reservation and deposit money. I didn’t cancel the truck until they could prove that my refund was...
Dealer can push priorities. I’ve seen them do it in person. They make a call and tell someone on the other end to make it a high priority. It’s a shady practice. Glad I cancelled in time.
Went to the dealer yesterday and got refunded my $100 reservation and $500 deposit and told them they could have the truck whenever it decided to come in. I wasn’t even angry and if anything I felt a sense of relief and even slept better at night. In the end, I think the delays was a blessing...
All excellent points that I understand and agree with. I’m willing to wait this out a few years until manufacturing gets back on track and charging stations improve. The EV range has to get closer to 400 miles before I consider it a family hauler for long trips, so in the end, this whole debacle...
I don’t need the money, but of course I don’t want to lose it either. The main problem is that the truck is still sitting on a ramp in Detroit awaiting a chip since the first week of November. There is no way especially during a holiday season that this truck will be delivered to San Diego...
I give up. I just contacted the dealer and inquired about a cancellation and refund. They said it would be no problem, but I want to see it in writing. Been a Ford owner all my life, but my 2017 Mustang could very well be my last purchase with them. Next up, Silverado EV. I hope they don’t let...
I’m going to chat with the dealer this week and ask if cancelling and getting a full deposit refund is an option. Depending on what he says, will determine the route I’ll go. If I cancel, I’ll most likely wait a couple of years for EV tech to improve.
You made a good choice. I also seen that ice blue metallic at the show. That color also hides the swirl marks. What are your thoughts on the iconic silver? I have yet to see a lightning in that color. Speaking of blue, the Silverado EV was on display and it looked amazing! If the Lightning holds...
