Greg,
Thanks for posting this. I think you just cost me $550. š
Our EV history is similar to yours. Original Schneider L2 30 amp/7.2 kw output installed 10 years ago to charge Nissan Leafs. The Schneider was replaced with a Tesla Wall Connector wired to a 60 amp circuit 2 years ago when we...
When charging my Lightning myTesla wall connector reports 11.7 KW output on the Tesla App and the Ford pass app reports about 10.6 kW. The difference is the Tesla reports the actual output and the Ford reports charge accepted by the Ford battery after efficiency losses. Typical loss ranges...
Everything about the 2025 Lightning was posted HERE on the video. No facelift.

I like that logic. So when the government reduced my tax liability by $37,500, the 7 times Iāve collected the EV tax credit, I can tell my friends that it wasnāt a subsidy. It sure feels like it was.
The $7trillion was a stretch but I donāt know if the $1 trillion fossil fuel subsidy was a...
fossil fuel subsidies range anywhere from 1,1 trillion to $7,000,000,000,000.00 depending on which measurement you use. Imagine how oil companies would react if the same freeze was put on the fossil fuel subsidies?

my āguessā is that the $9,000 listed as a rebate is the $7,500 actual rebate and another $1,500 for a Private Cash Offer. The tax credit, if transferred to the dealership, should have shown as additional down payment. For information you posted they owe you $7,500.
Here is my line item on my...
You didn't state which model Ligning you bought Rebates are different between models
Just did a quick search for rebates purchased in early 2024 (2/20/24-4/2/24)...
Shady dealership.
Dealer should have given you a Form 15400 at time of sale showing the amount of the credit and who it goes to. Press the dealer for a copy of form 15400. https://www.irs.gov/pub/newsroom/form-15400-sample-new.pdf
The tax credit that was transferred to the dealership is...
Can you confirm. Dealer Discounts are not taxable where the IRA Tax Credit is taxable. So Dealer discounts come off the pre tax purchase price so discounts are NOT taxable. .
Rebates, [tax] Credits, Deposits are listed after all taxable charges are listed.
So If the $7.500 was listed as an...
Norm ally the tax credit is listed on the down payment line of the contract. So if you see a $7,500 value or down payment line is $7,500 more then you gave as a down payment, the dealer got the credit.
I know that at least one Lightning owner reported that they used a version of this and had success. But being that neutral and grounds are connected together in the breaker panel I donāt see how it would work unless the device breaks the connection from the generator input to the device.
Itās questionable that this meter installed transfer switch would work with a Lightning that has full GFCI protection. See page below from their web site.
Plus you would need to have the utility approve and install it. My local utility would not install it when I checked with them.
Canāt publicly give advice that is contrary to local code. If a ground connection isnāt made between the truck and the house panel the truck wonāt trip the truckās GFCI.
All house circuits would still be grounded through the house panel and all house GFCI circuits would still sense a ground...
NOW THAT IS FUNNY!
BTW, Thank you for your service (from one veteran to another)
For us the Lightning works well. In 12 years of EV ownership weāve only āneededā to charge at a fast charger maybe 5 times tops. All other times we have charged either at home or our cabin.
Sounds like you need a better aerodynamic vehicle with a big battery. That vehicle would also need to have the ability to take in a constant 250+ kw at a fast charger or 19 kw at home, if you plan on driving 80+ MPH. Driving an aerodynamic brick like the Lightning with high parasitic drag will...
