  1. CarPlay Driving Me Crazy

I guess what do you think is the minimum SOC CarPlay should allow before adding a stop? I just routed a trip to Morgan hill that has me arriving with 9% SOC, and thatā€™s a little beyond my comfort zone. If youā€™re looking for something lower than that, I donā€™t think Apple would recommend (as...
  2. How pessimistic is the Mi/kWh display on the dash?

For me, I generally ignore the GOM. I plug my destination into Apple Maps, and it gives me a destination SOC that tends to increase slightly during the trip. I find that comforting.. and so far itā€™s otherwise exceedingly accurate.
  3. Traveling with Apple Maps (possibly Ford/others) Question

Iā€™ve found Apple Maps rout planning to be frustrating, as it often wants to park you on some random 30kw charger or worse, rather than routing you to a fast charger, and makes it hard to put your own charge stops in (and delete theirs). As others have said, I use PlugShare or Tesla app to...
  4. Anyone have any tips reversing smoothly into a garage?

I had issues in my driveway, which is a curved, steep AF, skinny obstacle course. I started switching to off road mode which seemed to even out all the scary stuff. Not sure how it would work in reverse. (Over time Iā€™ve just gotten better, less freaked out by the truckā€™s characteristics, so I...
  5. Cost to fill up your Lightning?

In my neck of PG&E California - weā€™re paying .38/kwh off peak summer, and 33 in winter. (This is with a monthly fee of $15 to lower the rate). Works out to about 80% of gas. They have an EV rate thatā€™s a little cheaper in the summer but more expensive in the winter. DCFC here is 42-69c, with...
  6. BlueCruise issues - turns on and off

Thisā˜ā€” is it actually ā€œturning offā€, or just cycling out of hands free? Ie.. the adaptive cruise and lane keeping are still working. This is how itā€™s supposed to work. Personally, with BC on I keep my hands resting on the wheel anyway, just letting it drive. It basically, other than turning off...
  7. Folding Mirrors Don’t Fold When Locking Truck

From my memory, if one of the mirrors gets bumped or moved out of position, the auto feature wonā€™t work, the solution being to manually operate them as you did just now. Itā€™s happened a couple of times to me.
  8. How often do you actually use the 9.6 kw pro power on board?

Iā€™m a photographer/video producer, and I bought the truck to have a mobile solution for running lights etc on location jobs. Havenā€™t had the project come up for that yet, but I have found I love the convenience of running power tools, compressor, etc on small projects, using the gate as a...
  9. my New favorite Supercharger, or Any charger..... layout.....

Yeahā€¦ no. This is about the worst configuration, as you canā€™t pull in-between the towers. (If they had only widened the median and offset the charging posts, it would work). The double placement doesnā€™t really help trucks at all, (the additional posts are for the opposite row of spots, not some...
  10. Planning a trip from Cleveland to Seneca Lake in New York but it looks like very limited charging. Can you guys help me out with this?

Get the Tesla app and add your Lightning to it. It will then only show you compatible chargers. Itā€™s not a navigation tool but can link to your favorite map tool. On road trips I use Tesla almost exclusively as itā€™s generally lower stress than EA. I donā€™t know abrp but PlugShare will show you...
  11. Does the Lightning Still Stack Up Well vs. Other EV Trucks?

I get that you live in an area with less charging. Of course you also live in an area where everyone brags about their .06/kw home elec costs. Regardless, available chargers have increased massively this year.. even along your route. Iā€™m quite certain charger density is dictated by the amount...
  12. Does the Lightning Still Stack Up Well vs. Other EV Trucks?

Well of course youā€™re talking about a very specific route (which has way more locations than it did at the beginning of the year. ) and even that isnā€™t exactly dire (the problem being Hattiesburg, not the rest of the route). So you have to top up on a 62kw charge point which suck but wonā€™t kill...
  13. Does the Lightning Still Stack Up Well vs. Other EV Trucks?

Is the lightning still relevant? Well in my little trendy corner of California, I can say that I saw very few lightnings a year ago, and quite a few Rivian. Today I see 3-4 lightings a day, the occasional Rivian and 1-2 cybertrucks (one next door, one blacked out with vinyl, which didnā€™t help)...
  14. Does the Lightning Still Stack Up Well vs. Other EV Trucks?

Other than the recent quadrupling of charge locations courtesy of SpaceX?
  15. Ford Charge Station Pro (FCSP) FordPass Access Control Lock/Unlock Update Needed

Iā€™ve recently used two evse that have been installed inside lock boxes. One at an Airbnb and another at a a clientā€™s business while I was working there. If youā€™re paranoid about someone stealing electrons then you should be at least as concerned about copper thieves, and how easily your 1300...
  16. New truck one week. Frunk stopped opening to the full

Just had this done. Take to your dealer. They will do software updates and then re-initialize the frunk motor limits. In some cases they will replace the motors but this exact behavior is not uncommon and they should be able to do with the initialization procedure. For me, all the user hacks...
  17. Pre-collision alert for no discernible reason

The same thing happened to me once.. donā€™t remember the exact situation but it was in town, and nothing around for me to hit.
  18. Got My First Thumbs Down [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

living in coastal California, EVā€™s have rapidly become the norm, not the exception, as it seems like 30-50% of the cars on the 101 at any given moment are Teslas. Here where I live, there arenā€™t a lot of lightnings though, but no-one seems to comment Frunk open or not. Spent a week over in...
