Yeah...our main coast highway (not the scenic one), which is 4-10 lanes depending on where you are between Downtown LA, San Jose, San Francisco and the Canadian border, and is mostly mapped by BlueCruise, can be remarkably curvy in almost any stretch (urban or rural). Most of it is 65 speed...
Apple Maps generally does an admirable job with range estimates involving elevation changes. Slightly conservative, I always end up gaining a few percent throughout the trip. (Although for a recent Vegas trip I found it was shockingly underestimating range in both directions). I’ve driven...
I have a 23 lariat as well. There was nothing on the screen, I didn't get a notice that it would update, or that it had. It was later in the day when I noticed it in FordPass. But yeah...it just started working.
A few weeks ago, I headed to Vegas on a quick work trip. I noticed the BCruise was acting funny pretty early on the drive, but it wasn't until Barstow that I noticed that I'd been updated to BC 1.4 over night, and so for the last stretch of that trip, the return, and around my home county here...
Mine came with Goodyear Wranglers and I'm over the 20k mark and they still look new. Rotated at 16k. I think they'll make 60 no problem. I drive pretty chill.
I have to say, compared to the scuttlebut 18 months ago when I first went EV, this is welcome news. While our town apparently is too cool to have a Walmart, we’ve seen installation of 12 EA chargers at Costco, 12 Chargepoint Dcfc in local parks, and a 12 spot Tesla SC battery at Vons, all in the...
I do agree with you. I’m a photographer and it’s pretty common to need to top up my cameras (and some lights) mid shoot. Sure I can add a device via the AC, but 45w would be great to have internally while driving between locations. More desirous would be to have the usb-c ports remain hot when...
While I use Apple Maps for routing and SOC prediction, I find its charging routes to be unimpressive, and hard to customize. I don’t know if it’s improved, but it was a disaster waiting to happen on my across the desert trip to Grand Canyon last spring. I feel better planning my own route when...
Was just going to come in here and mention that they fixed an OEM tire and rotated for free for me yesterday. I realize they want my future business, but it’s still a pretty impressive policy. When it comes time to buy a new set, I’ll still call around to them, the local shop and Costco. I’m...
I got a series of people who stuck to the same script. 60A installs were faulty, period. Every time I'd point out where that was simply not true, they would change the story. Went on for weeks. The more I escalated the more they dug in their heels. They seemed most interested in "not replacing"...
ha, yes… true. However last year when I had this exact same issue, two Ford CSR and their manager insisted that a 60amp installation was all the proof they needed that my issue was due to improper installation. (And refused to listen to “it’s in the manual, it’s in the marketing”). Luckily...
Good to know Barstow is the king of EV towns. FWIW, the other big station in town with 70+ chargers at the outlet center, has bathrooms right next to it, and along with restaurants and shopping, also has quite a few pull through spots and generally easy access for lightnings.
Not really, although the country highway that made up half the trip is curvy enough to keep my speeds low in the range during that section. I think the message is that if you drive in similar conditions to the EPA testing, that you’ll get similar range.
FWIW. Starting from 100%, on an unseasonably warm 70° California day. I did an 80 mile round trip on Sunday, all freeway/highway. Returned with 250 miles range. Speed was 55-70.
Twas a first.
For me it happened with the 18.3 update, after the Siri changes in the UI. Battery estimate would “stick” in various incorrect values after each start up. After the 18.3.1 update it “seems” fixed but I haven’t driven much. Have yet to get the “battery level may be incorrect” warning since that...
Yup.. happened yesterday on a trip down the coast. Got the error message, and then once it restored the range estimate was no longer accurate.(and stuck— typically it adjusts throughout the trip, and usually underestimates the final range). This time I was 30 miles from my destination when we...
