That’s awesome!! I wanted to… I really did, but when I found out how much it costs, I just couldn’t. Went with engineered wood instead… If you decide to go with the piano hinge, Home Depot has them in black and long enough, whereas Lowes has them in black but all are too short. Regards, Woody
I hear ya…They are indeed…They’ve bailed me out several times when I was out of a needed rating…my service van (2020 Transit Connect) carries the full range of caps from 3mfd up to 80mfd… I use my Lightning on new change outs/installs, so I only carry a bare minimum of parts that may be needed…...
I’ve looked for those clips online with no luck.. Have several that’s snapped off. I think the only way to get them is by replacing the panel…. Would be like purchasing a windshield is the only way to get wiper blades🤨
Nice set up! Question…I’m in central Texas, and salt is seldom used… are there any signs of salt induced rust/corrosion on your Lightning because of it?
Had me there for a minute…Totally forgot about the manual Frunk/Hood release in the cab, so even with a DOA LVB, you can still open the hood…good to go…
I see your point. Pioneer74 mentioned someone in the MachE forum did one similar but installed it inside the carge port door area. I’ll take a look at mine later today… it may be possible to use that location as well, perhaps with a small panel mount unit… Would solve the DOA dilemma of the...
Thanks, same concept… the “jump” would be one way, meaning “to” the Lightning… our mod would be incapable of providing the amperage needed to jump an ICE vehicle; only then would the factory 12vdc posts be needed.
All though it hasn’t happened yet, if the LVB did Need a jump, or charge… there’s two options, either empty the Frunk for access to remove the LVB panel, or risk breaking off those twist tabs and remove the fender panel revealing the remote 12vdc posts… This is a relatively easy mod that will...
I tried the standard depth ones, but hood was hitting them when closing…
When I saw they are going for almost $400 bucks… wood was much cheaper, and Broncoaz mentioned, I too wanted to keep it as is for future use/resale…
Didn’t really plug it, but it is covered with a cut to fit soft foam mat, (which is about 1/4” thick) that serves as sort of a cushion for the items stored there… Also forgot to mention that I put two coats of “Herculiner” on it -available from Lowe’s…
Got tired of having to remove Milwaukee PackOut Box every time I needed to get something out of lower storage. Removing it wasn’t too bad, but was a pain putting it back, almost always required Tool box removal
I think I have a few more pigtails and would be glad to send you one… or… I can post a ford part # that is a headlight plug loaded with the correct pin size pigtails needed… just let me know… sorry about delay.. been busy with contractors doing some remodeling on our home… Regards, Woody
