2023 Pro OEM Bed Light addition - why it sometimes doesn't work, and Fix.

I installed all OEM bed light components, and like some others, it doesn't work. Here's why, and what needs to be done, to get the bed light switch to work as the factory intended. On the BCM, plug (not the module) # C2280E is missing the pin and wire in pin position 9. This wire connects to the green/orange wire on either side (doesn't matter) of the bed light wiring harness.(I chose the passenger side) Next, pin #8, on the same plug is there, but it's missing a wire that's tapped into pin #8's wire. This wire needs to run to the white/blue wire coming off the bed switch. Thats it...push the bed light switch, lights go on, push again and they fade to off...

What did the switch and 2 cargo lamps along with the wiring cost?
When I inquired it was several hundred dollars .
I went a different route with 6 led modules that are pre strung. Picked up at Walmart for $30. Can run on a 12 volt rechargeable battery and never touch the factory wires.

@Itaintfastenough Thanks for this post. I just looked at the plug on my Pro ER and it looks like it doesn't have the #9 pin you referenced. I'm assuming the #9 pin is the one the red arrow is pointing at?

A few more questions:
- Can you ellaborate on what you mean by "This wire connects to the green/orange wire on either side (doesn't matter) of the bed light wiring harness." Did you have to buy a single wire and physically run it all the way back to the rear corner of the truck and splice it into the bed light wire harness? Or is it much simpler than that?

- For the #8 pin, same thing... did you have to run a wire all the way back to the rear driver corner and splice into the bed switch?

If you did have to do these things, where did you buy an extra pin and the wiring you used?

i’ll get back to you later this evening, but it’s really not that bad… I also would be happy to mail you a Ford pigtail pin assembly to complete your project… it snaps right in the back side of that plug. you can private msg me on my cel @ 972-935-2862 if you’d like the pigtail (no cost) …

I think I have a few more pigtails and would be glad to send you one… or… I can post a ford part # that is a headlight plug loaded with the correct pin size pigtails needed… just let me know… sorry about delay.. been busy with contractors doing some remodeling on our home… Regards, Woody
