Level 2 charging at the farm is the obvious answer.
We also live adjacent to a charging desert (northern Arkansas), so we get the anxiety about trying to plan trips without a stop, but really you don’t have to. For long trips we book hotels with charging, and we keep an 50A 14-50 adapter in...
There is no such thing as a free lunch. I purchased on Sept 2nd and was also irked by the timing. BUT, I priced the same truck in Oct (with X plan) for fun at the same dealership - it’s now $4000 more, no matter what I do.
You are better off with the cash than the charger. Check eBay
We used X plan to purchase our Flash on Labor Day, and we were allowed to stack discounts. Started at $73,460, ended at $57,060 with 0% financing x 60 months.
It took a long time though, and they ended up adding the $7500 to our trade to make the math work.
Here in the Midwest we’ve seen 15k-16.5k off (including the full EV tax credit) new 2024 Flashes and XLTs. These are also 0% financing for 60 months through Ford Credit, which puts them in the same general ballpark as a used Lightning if you are financing it.
My advice - 2024 Flash financed at...
I do have an update, but still no fix. It turns out my truck was sold to someone else, who backed out of the deal the next day - then we bought it.
I reached out to Ford pass support - it turns out they do not keep a history of ford pass accounts assigned to a specific VIN, so they can’t tell...
Yes, we (wife and I) share a former hertz rental Tesla as our commuter vehicle. The software gulf is vast between the two vehicles, which is why we reached out to the forum community to see what our expectations should really be on the Lightning software.
You bring up a point I had not considered- don’t all new F150s have a modem and FordPass? Would ours be harder to fix than the modem on an ecoboost F150?
We don’t have any connected services. It’s been an odd feeling - we would not have given this a second thought in our previous truck, but I can imagine a thousand ways this could cause future problems in a lightning.
I’ll pm later this evening once I can get the VIN at home. Thanks!
It is a perturbing situation, but it’s also a huge dealership and I can understand them having limited EV techs and having to juggle things. I’ve gotten “he’s working on it” several times, and to be honest the service advisor probably doesn’t know exactly what’s going on with every vehicle back...
I’m seeking a yardstick for what’s a normal dealership experience when a lightning has a software issue.
In our case, we have a 2024 Flash that works great EXCEPT it won’t connect to Ford Pass (has never even completed a registration handshake) or updated using the modem. It was noticed on...
We really like our Lightning Flash (we also took advantage of the employee pricing) but those who are pointing out issues with software and dealers have a point.
The hardware has been flawless but we have had software issues (our dealer submits that not all the modules are updating correctly...
What I was trying to point out with my first post (and after re-reading it I admit I did a poor job) is that it’s no longer just a choice between SR and ER batteries- it’s now a choice of trim/options only, because you can’t mix and match batteries anymore.
In our case, we did buy that 2024...
As of last week (the Labor Day discounts were substantial) the difference between a 2024 XLT SR and a 2024 Flash ER was $6500. Even taking battery size out of the equation, all the other stuff that the flash adds makes the upgrade hard to pass up.
We were one of those lightnings. We traded in our Powerboost on a Flash that was optioned perfectly for us. We honestly had no reason to switch, but the Labor Day weekend stacked discounts (taking a 74k truck down to 57k) plus O% financing was just too good to walk away from.
