We really like our Lightning Flash (we also took advantage of the employee pricing) but those who are pointing out issues with software and dealers have a point.

The hardware has been flawless but we have had software issues (our dealer submits that not all the modules are updating correctly and this is freezing our system). I donā€™t know if this is a dig at our dealer or the software (or both) but our dealer isnā€™t nearly as confident with lightning issues as normal F150 issues.

If we were coming from a normal F150, the software would seem fine. But, we also have a Tesla model 3ā€¦. itā€™s not even close.

It is hard for me to trust anything the dealers say about software. They donā€™t want to live forward, and are trapped in the past. I hope that Ford next gen stuff is in parallel with dealers if dealers are going to do everything possible to sabotage the EV experience.

Ford has been slow on software development and their stock is tanking year after year. Model e / CEO Farley are on thin ice & the dealerships seem to flounder for now relating to EV's.

I'd love to know what you wish you knew before buying your Lightning. I'm considering a Pro or XLT. My lifestyle well fits well the standard range battery, the temps here mild year-round, I don't tow my boat more than a few blocks. What upgrades do you recommend? Anything I should consider? Much appreciated.
Do not buy. I would not recommend. Too many issues and too many better options available. Buy EV, donā€™t buy the Lightning.

Thanks for the opinion (we need to hear from all sides). What better options would you recommend for a hauler in a somewhat similar price range to a Pro or XLT?

there's not one...

and, with 50,000 miles on my PRO and not a single issue, take what you 'hear' from a very few with a large grain of salt... these are amazing machines. And, yes, I have towed our 3,800 lb camper over 24,000 miles with no issues... wouldn't go back to gas, wouldn't give another brand or make a second thought... this does exactly what Jim Farley said it would. It's the Model A of it's time.

Although I agree with your Yes vote based on my experience, I still think it's valuable to learn from everyone's experiences. @sw-lightning23 has discussed a number of specific grievances which deserve to be considered. They're mostly for issues about which some of us don't care very much, but others do.

I'm irrationally annoyed by the way my truck, or maybe my phone, keeps causing Google Maps to switch to daytime mode when I want it to always show in night mode. I'm not about to trade in for a Silverado because of that, though, and don't even mention a Stainless Musk Ox.

Silverado EV or Rivian but neither will be at that price range. Great options at the higher end range of price.
