The difference is… you could order that model 3 if you knew about it and wanted to. On the range front, at least with Mach E Ford was quite accurate about the range.
Honestly I’m very soured by this experience at this point. I had to change dealers since I am moving out of state, and whether or not it mattered my original dealer (ZEV state) thought it pretty likely I’d be in wave 1, at worst 2 at the dealership. Who knows but with Ford’s allocation system...
One thing I might add is your schedule also doesn’t leave much room for detours, after work activities/side trips, at least on your working days ie you basically have to get home and charge, since it will take 8 hours or so with the 48A charger (and even longer with the included 32A one).
That’s a lot of fish tank power haha. I have a similar need and if you reduce usage to a few vital circulation pumps and heater if needed… that’s a ton of runtime: ignoring conversion losses. 98kWh is enough to output say, 300W for 326 hours. If the automated setup gets too expensive (pro...
Yeah, after seeing that in the order guide I’m less interested in that, the “activation fee” irks me and may just do the 9.6 upgrade and do a transfer switch. Does anyone know if the truck will output 220V?
I do have to wonder though, why the reservation deposit was lowered to $100 for this go around. Methinks that with all the component shortages and uncertainty, this might make it easier for reservation holders to stay on even if delays arise (as they did for the Mach E).
Given my experiences with the GOM on the Mach E, as well as the software on a production vehicle that has gotten over the air updates, I wouldn’t take any stock in the range estimate from a pre-prod Ford vehicle. The number to focus on later on is mi/kwh and the battery size. Some early Mach E...
Given the specs on the XLT I’m not optimistic on what else could possibly be missing on the base model for $15K less. The XLT is already spec’d lower than the Select Mach E is, and seems like that’s the lowest reasonable level for a consumer to start at.
Seriously though, for $100, a lot of those reservations have to be speculative. Mach E was $500 so that required a bit more thought. I think the number quoted for Mach E conversion from placed order to final sale was 70%. So if every reservation turns into an order, high bound would be somewhere...

Wife reserved from our Mach E as Farley was talking up the OTAs (and shortly after it Sync 4A glitched while I tried to load the Monster’s Inc OST for my son ?)
