As for the original question, I have a Lightning and a Silverado EV reservation, but I really just want an affordable SUV with Pro Power. So far only the ICE F150 offers Pro Power. If I could buy an ice Explorer with Pro Power, I would get that instead.
In Europe, the The Dacia Spring is less than €20k and the Tesla model 3 is €45k. Cheap EVs are pretty new to the European market, so Tesla still has a lead. With about 10 models under €30k available now, small cheap EVs are gaining market share. There will always be demand for luxury cars like...
As a kid, I only knew about Ferraris and Porsches, but my dad never bought one. Neither did I. Most people can’t afford $50k+ hatchbacks and Tesla just announced that they won’t work on a $25k car anytime soon. Tesla competes with luxury’s sedans and sports cars, but the mass market is...
They could have made a base $1 dollar model and sold one of those and claimed that the Lightning starts at $1.
Tesla pulled this trick with the $35k model 3 and it seems that Ford copied that approach. Tesla is also creative with EPA ranges and while cars rarely reach EPA rating in actual use...
I prefer the 12” screen on the Pro and XLT. I don’t like iPads bolted on to the dash.
I currently have a 7 inch screen in my car. It would be nice if it was brighter, but the size does not really bother me. With the 360 view, it may be better to have a 12 inch screen than a 7 inch screen...
I would prefer a full size two row SUV EV that can tow and power an RV trailer. With the Silverado I could add a topper and leave the mid gate open. That is probably the closest I’ll ever get to getting that SUV EV.
Pro power: I plan to use it as a home backup through a manual transfer switch. I am afraid Sunrun will charge more than $10k to install the bi directional charger. The cost to install a home battery is about $10k in addition to the cost of the battery itself. Also, pro power is required for max...
Looks like they are way under forecasting the Pro orders. They will probably end up telling most Pro customers to order a 23MY or 24MY and they'll probably increase the price for the Pro next year. The only reason I reserved the F150L was because it would start at $32.5k after federal credit.
If you want to have electricity from renewable sources, you can get a renewable energy rate from your utility. They will do the same as Ford, buy an equivalent amount of energy that you use from renewable sources, but they do it for all electricity you use.
Linda mentions that the scales in the bed use a height sensor. I wonder if it measures the ground clearance and whether lifting the truck or getting bigger tires would impact the scales. Hopefully there is a calibration setting to measure the height when the bed is empty.
Ford sold 150k EVs in the US through Q3 2021 and sells just under 8k per quarter. At the end of 2021, Ford will have sold less than 160k EVs in the US.

Even though Ford wants to ramp up...
I think the Ioniq 5 US pricing is getting pushed out for the same reason. They are already on sale in Europe. Hyundai first said they would announce US pricing in the summer, then the fall, and now they say winter.
The $7,500 is available only one full quarter after the quarter when Ford reaches 200k US sales to people claiming the credit. So if Ford reaches 200k in August 2022, then the credit is reduced to $3,750 on Jan 1, 2023.
Tesla held back deliveries in June 2018 so that they could exceed 200k in...
If the bill with the $12.5k rebate passes and you combine that with the $2.5k Oregon state rebate, then the Pro SR costs $25k and the XLT ER $45k in Oregon.
Since the battery packs are modular, I wonder if they can be upgraded later. Maybe the ER has 4 packs and the SR 3 packs. It would be great if we could add a pack later.
If the rebate gets approved, the Pro is a great deal. Especially for the lucky people in Oregon who don’t pay sales tax and...
