Has anyone broached the subject of having a charger or chargers installed at their work? I'm reading there are some incentives to subsidize the cost of install available from the state government as well as power companies.

Whether they go for it or not, I can see why they may not be happy about it. For the company, this effort is a distraction from work, and then the chargers would add the cost per kWh of people charging vehicles. It's a small office and may be seen as unfair to those who don't have a new electric truck.

Pros include that it's environmentally friendly and a perk for (one) existing and potential new employees.

What other pros and cons may I be missing here?

Should I offer anything to sweeten the pot? Does anyone pay for their own electricity at work? It's a small office in the middle of nowhere so public chargers wouldn't make a lot of sense.

I would have hoped the EV infrastructure bill would have promoted small business to install chargers in the workplace. Looking through it quickly I do not see anything pointing to that. I would hope incentives will be put in place at some time.

There’s an EV exclusive club at one of the building I work at. There are 4 free level 2 chargers and about 8 people, all Teslas, that constantly use them. They work in packs and rotate their cars to keep them full all day so no one else can use them. They aren’t interested in letting new EV drivers join their club. The only time the chargers are available is on Saturday and Sunday when almost no one is there.

They don't own those (right?)

I'm not sure how I'd do this but maybe try to go in super early one Monday and get first plug. They can't take it if you're plugged in. I'm sure you'll catch one of them when you're done and let them know they're not the only ones who need a charge. Maybe start a convo about getting some more chargers

Thanks. Doesn't look like we'll qualify for a private install as 15 employee claim would be a stretch for this office.

I was more thinking just installing a weather rated NEMA 14-50 plug on the exterior wall. That said, if I use my $500 mobile charge cable on that, someone could just drive by and swipe that, right? No locks on it? Haven't pulled it out of the package yet but can't imagine where a lock would be.

No locks on the charger. But you would want a lockable outlet cover. Something like the below.

As far as I can tell, most companies will do anything to improve their ability to claim they are “green” or “net-zero” or “sustainable”

I don’t think it would be a very hard sell.

Which is why I said “something like the below” obviously it’s for bigger plugs but you would want “something” lockable.
