I think it was me....picked up on Saturday from Leif Johnson. I was their first retail sale. I live off 1431 on the Leander/CP border and did a good bit of driving around this weekend.

Congrats on the truck!

I'm already forgetting what neighborhoods are near that intersection, but yours reminds me of our "old" neighborhood of Larkspur in Leander. I do miss that area and would have loved to see all you Austinites driving around in your Lightnings.

Newer neighborhood off 1431 and Trails End going out towards Lago. About 1mi from the lake. Home values have gone insane in the area.

The 2015 has 140k miles with 5.0 and I tow a fair amount plus have offices between Tulsa and Houston that i drive to few times a month.
One way 500 miles means you need to charge 2-3 times. Maybe you can give a try and find out those chargers that can reach 150kW.

But, if public charging is priced at $0.4/kWh, that means $0.25/mile, then there is no cost advantage compare to ICE F150.

I'll hopefully join you guys around October. I have a grey one scheduled to be built in August. I'm up in Round Rock and ordered it from Mac Haik in Georgetown. They told me that they got 6-7 allocations this year and have over 350 pre-orders.

I had originally order at Mac, but Leif committed to selling at MSRP so I switched.

They assured me that they were selling at MSRP from the very beginning. Nothing has changed to indicate otherwise since I made my order last month. Did they try to add on ADM to your order?

In Austin area, is there any dealer I can order vehicle from tomorrow w/o ADM and get the vehicle this year? I don't want to wait a year or more for the vehicle. Thanks.

Crap. Where did you get yours from?? Sticker price? Dealer in Houston just told me maybe 1.5 years to get a Lightning.
You sound … late to the information.

Ford in 2022 is delivering so few of these that secondary asking prices are 40-50% above MSRP. My dealership is receiving 4 total in 2022, all of which were ordered in the first few minutes of the truck’s release in May of 2021. I’d guess that in the Austin area there may be as few as 20 delivered amongst all dealerships.

Folks now scheduled to receive one in 2023 also likely reserved on in mid 2021.

There’ll be a long wait for one at MSRP.

You can have mine for $140K;)

I missed the boat for sure. I totally give up on finding a new vehicle. Only vehicle I have found that I really like is Jeep Grand Cherokee because visibility on driver's side is very good but Jeep reliability is not great. My current vehicle, Escalade, has 111K miles and needs to be replaced. At my age, I think I will be laid to rest before I can get what I really want.

You can try to secure a dealership's mannequin but you won't be able to take delivery before December AND it will cost you at least $15k over sticker. I've got one secured for my company to test because I'm NOT allowing them to test my truck 😂

The way I see it, you have three options.
  1. Wait until Ford opens up pre-orders/reservations to the public again, order the truck you want, and then wait for them to get to your spot in line. 1.5 years from now at least.
  2. Shop around the online private party selling sites to find the few people who are flipping their new orders and expect to pay a hefty markup. Fastest way to get what you want.
  3. Call or check the websites of all the dealerships you're willing to travel to and find out which ones have demo trucks. They're not allowed to sell them until they've had them for 6 months. Some dealers are keeping them on the showroom floor and plan to sell them as new with a markup and very low miles. Other dealers are letting everyone with interest test drive them. These trucks likely have the best chance to have the least amount of markup come the end of the year if they end up with a lot of miles on them. If you find one that you're interested in, you might be able to get the dealership to negotiate sales terms in advance of the 6-month demo timeline. You could get a truck around January if you beat out the other offers for the demos in your area.

I appreciate your input. If I place order when order window opens, I should expect to wait 1.5 years (at least)? Thanks.
