I have owned multiple other EVs as well and the Lightning is an awesome truck from Ford. Sure, there will always be gripes about the GOM and interface but we have 29,000 miles on ours with it fully loaded with an OVRLND pop up camper bolted to the back and are still getting 2.0 miles per kWH lifetime. We have had some weeks of temps in the teens, twenties and thirties and if you precondition it still gets 1.8-2.3 miles per kWH depending on speed and lengt of trip. We’ve been from the Pacific NW to Southern Utah, from the Pacific NW to San Diego and from the Pacific NW to Eastern Oregon and you can readily figure out what charging you need to make it. We are fortunate to have a Tesla Model 3 now too, and it is twice as efficient at 4+ miles per kWH but that is exactly what you would expect. We alos had an F150 PowerBoost Hybrid for a year while we waited for our Lightning and the Lightning is a better truck in all ways but range - smoother, quieter and faster too.
As opposed to showing a pic of a stock F150 and a price that makes people more upset at me than welcoming, I thought I'd lead with an outright insult. Just kidding, in fact I'd wager most in this crowd aren't who I'm talking about. I'm on now my 7th (!) electric vehicle, including a Rivian. Reading the complaints on here and Reddit about winter range, I was prepared for the worst. This isn't bad, my Chevy Bolt or Kona Electric would be taking a much bigger hit to range. I don't think people understand how good this truck is, likely because of amount of battery sapped for similar sized cabin for the resistance heater. 131kWh to heat roughly the same space as a 65kWh battery.
Just want to say, this truck does just fine in winter. Of course a heat pump would help but this local driving I did matches the R1 I had rolling around. I of course expect for it to be much worse over 65 but frontal area and shape that is built "ford tough" instead of ground up for aero, I'm way more than satisfied.
No idea how happy I am with this machine. Ford did a great job and I hope they don't divert from the F150 body shape in future iterations like GM and Ram. I and most get this thing to be a work truck (or at least a costco truck that poses as a work truck).
Sorry I got in "on the deals" but if it makes you feel any better I moved a fleet of EVs and traded into it. You can bet your ass I lost more than you guys did overall
Anyways, cool truck guys, sorry I'm late!
