I've had my Macan Turbo EV for four months now (and my partner has just collected her 4S one week ago).
Both with the same issues:-
  • dangerous LKA
  • hundreds of collision warnings when driving
  • daily assistance errors on dash
  • often no sound when driving.
Both my car and her car do the same - Porsche's answer "This is perfectly normal" or "bring it in and we'll take a look"... Why aren't there OTA updates forthcoming to resolve these matters? We've spent a combined ÂŁ200,000GBP on these two cars.

My guess is everyone in the UK is having the above or similar, or worse issues.

WE ALL NEED to make a community and hold Porsche accountable for this really quite irritating car to live with. Some OTA updates would address the above, and provide quite a nice vehicle to own. Who's had enough of their car already, and want's to tackle Porsche head on? Is there a way to create a poll on this forum?

but Porsche can't do OTA updates - they lack the will and the technology.

oh thats bad luck -or carelessness?- that you bought the same car twice and actually hate it.

While I agree that they should be held accountable, I am surprised about all these issues you experience with BOTH of your vehicles.
Of that list, the only issue I have in common with you is the "no sound" when driving and I have narrowed that down to being repeatable in one particular set of circumstances which accounts for about 80% of the time it has happened to me (which is still not all that often), so it is easy enough to avoid until they do release an OTA fix of some sort.
Sounds like you really need to take both your cars back in though...

I've a hunch that the UK cars are more 'irritating' to live with than the US models, due to the difference in regulations etc.

PM me.

Longtime Porsche owner, awaiting my new Macan 4 - first post here.

What would make the UK Macan EVs more irritating to live with than their US equivalents, due to difference in regulations?

In the US you have the option to turn off some of the nannies and driving aids.

I have seen none of these problems after I understood to use the right tool for the conditions. Its not fighting me when I just want to drive and does well commuting on properly marked roads otherwise.

I like the car as is, its a keeper.

I think some of this is trying to use the assistance systems in poor conditions. i.e. there is a learning curve. There is a very good set up video posted here somewhere that I used, but the suggested settings may not be available in the EU.

I disagree - warning messages on almost every journey that "clear" on your next trip is not a learning curve. It's buggy AF.

@DanielFrench
Add a couple of irritants that I and others have faced:
  • Unable to read speed limits properly, breaks suddenly to reduce the speed.
  • Randomly giving message on the dial, 'assistance system currently unavailable, continue to drive'. This often clears after the next restart.
I was recently speaking to a Porsche techy at Porsche Mayfair and mentioned to him that I have heard Porsche are unable to do OTA updates, but he said that is not true.
Your screenshot of Online Software Update also goes to show they do have this capability. So I wonder if and when they will release OTAs 🤔

Perhaps the UK software conservatively errors on the side of caution. So you get false alarms one day and not the next. Some cars could have over active sensors... dunno. I hear there is an issue reading speed limit signs, which is an annoyance in the UK.

Sounds like the software/system need more robustness against false detections.

Which kind of LKA are you using? The base or the active LKA?

Daniel. Really sorry to hear your woes. I have had no issues, other than the Sat Nav having the wrong limit for parts of the A12 - they warned me about this on collection. My car was in the dealers for 2 weeks waiting until the 1st March reg. In that time the sales guy assured me their tech team were all over the car ensuring all updates etc were done - this may have helped to provide a stable software system.
I’m sure you’ve set all the warnings to their lowest settings so the issue might be in the hardware. I wouldn’t set Innodrive to limit the car to speed limits due to the terrible state of our missing signage, obscured by veg etc. Turning off LKA is very easy and in most modern cars this is too sensitive due to a lack of proper lane markings. I find Active Lane Keeping to be far less sensitive and works well, I suspect it relies more on any vehicles in front to follow and less on the road markings.
Whether the car has a stable software system or not seems to be a real lottery - difficult to understand how come.

That's so unlucky to end up with 2 "Friday" cars... we had similar issues with 1 of our EV Mercs, the tech had no idea how to fix and the same response - we can't replicate the errors so it doesn't exist, ended up needing to go the financial and motor ombudsman before they eventually after numerous attempts to fix to take the car back.... Their futile attempt to fix was always, we've reset the car, we've cleaned the battery contacts etc...

Hope yours get sorted with future OTA updates.
