Lightning / Cybertruck prices

I was thinking how the Lightning and Cybertruck were quit comparable in pricing of their pickups. What strikes me the most is how Ford sells hundreds of thousands of the ICE units annually and are only able to match the price of the Cybertruck, in which is starting from a clean sheet and not share much of anything with other Tesla models. I believe Ford is intentionally price matching Tesla since there are no other lower priced pickups on the market (who wouldn’t) The Lightning should be much cheaper to build than Tesla. As potential buyers of the Lightning, do you feel a little exploited when many of you dropped down your deposit to own one?

Maybe Tesla is so much more efficient in building their first pickup?

There's a lot we don't know about the Lightning, and a crap ton we don't know about the Cybertruck. Like, exactly what the production version looks like, how much it actually costs, when will it actually go into production, and like 100 other things.

The Cybertruck may be substantially more expensive than originally claimed... understandably so given the huge changes in material costs. And when will the $39k version actually be available? It was pushed back to after the dual and tri-motor versions after those were more popular in pre-orders. So, that may not be available until a couple years after the $39k Lightning, for all we know.

That being said, it's pretty clear that Ford set the margin of the Lightning Pro SR way lower relative to the other trims to beat the Cybertruck's price. The XLT Lightning SR is about $5k more than a comparable gas XLT. The Pro Lightning SR is about $7k LESS... LESS... than a comparable gas XL.

And the Pro is very, very competitive with Cybertruck, expecially with the tax credit that Ford has and Tesla doesn't. 230 miles and dual motor for $32k vs 250 miles and single motor for $39k. The higher trims, Cybertruck is much more competitive with. An XLT ER is same range and about $2500 more expensive than the *announced* price of the dual motor Cybertruck.

So, we'll see how many of the SR Pro Ford decides to sell and when and what else, besides blocking the ER battery, they do to push people to the more expensive (way higher margin) versions.

The SR versions are very competitively priced with the gas versions of the F-150, so anyone who is used to F-150 pricing should feel pretty good about it, and with limited production capacity and soaring demand, there's really just no reason for Ford to try and beat Tesla on price right away... so I'm kinda surprised they bothered to do it on the Pro SR.

Anyway, the point is, there's just a whole lot we don't know at this point regarding timing, availability, real range, real pricing, tax credits, etc. It's hard to make firm comparisons, yet, that we know will stick once the firmer info comes out.

It's all just marketing jargon. Tesla did the same thing.
"Starting at $39k with up to 500mi of range and 0-60 in <3.0 secs..." Two different models and price points but that is the line that makes every website.

Not sure how that is exploiting anyone. Ford wants to lock down that commercial market and with the Pro model at $32k after credits, AWD and ~230mi of range, they will. Price of batteries is still high for most companies, especially if you have someone else make them for you.

We’ll also have to see if anything changes with tax credits by the time F150L & CT are actually produced ($12,5k & $10k?) & what final pricing is for each trim.

From what I’ve read, insurance rates have also been higher on other comparable Tesla models.

Who would feel exploited about a $100 refundable deposit? The pricing is on par with other top of the line trucks so why would they make it cheaper?
