I agree...I would think Ford engineers are looking at this and trying to at least catch up. American auto manufacturers, though, tend to be notoriously slow to recognize threats (e.g., look at what happened in the '70s). I'm hoping they learned their lesson in 1980, but I still worry, because I had a Tesla. It was a fun car to drive, and had a lot of good tech. I came back to Ford because Tesla quality and customer service SUCK. I was a bit surprised to find that Ford had not leapfrogged ahead of Tesla's tech; they have a way to go to catch up. Don't get me wrong...I love my new Lightning. It's a much more comfortable and reliable ride than the Tesla, and their service is so much better. However, even simple things like dog mode have somehow eluded Ford software engineers. Tesla has better onboard navigation, and their entertainment section has Netflix and Hulu and bunches more games. Except for the nav, these are minor things, but if you want to capture more of the Tesla drivers, you want to provide some of the things that they have come to expect from an EV. Ford engineering would do well to go back to some of the lessons they learned in the '80s (especially the Kano model) and put some effort into jumping ahead of the competition.
