Since this might be interesting info if you are driving through the same country. We just finished 1500 mile leg of a trip that wil be ~4k by the time we return home. Headed to Santa Fe for a few weeks to visit our daughter. After this will head to Oklahoma then take the southern route back to Seattle.

Just finished the Seattle -> SantaFe piece, which was the most worrying when we set out (looking at the 4 corner regions lack of infra).

Seattle -> Boise
1.9kw/hr, over two mountain ranges with temps starting in the 40’s and going down to freezing with a fair bit of snow by the time we got to Boise. Charging was mostly a non event (Electrify at a truck stop and Walmart).

Boise -> Ogden
1.7 kw/hr, mostly freezing and heavy blowing snow. Wife was driving and she had problems not going 80 through Idaho (speed limit). Also no problems charging, well outside of Electrify’s normal problems (charge faults).

Ogden -> Moab
2.1 kw/hr. Over a mountain range and down into Moab. Electrify America had a region wide outage so we had to move and find an EVGo. Also first time trying a Chargepoint as the ford nav targeted that one automatically… we left for the Electrify charger which then died lol. EVGo worked fine. We charged again in Spanish Fork, and although Electrify still said the chargers were down we were able to charge there. Next charge in GreenRiver was the nicest, but too late to visit the coffee shop.

Moab -> Gallup
Avg 2.1kw/hr …

This was the “worst” just because both Ford nav and ABRP kept trying to send us to Durango.. which would be dicey from there to Santa Fe. We drove ~55mph (10 under) to conserve electrons. The Ford app also kept adding 6.6kw chargers and estimating day long stops lol. We changed the trip to charge at Monticello (a nice faster chargpoint) during a blizzard… and then for lunch on a 6.6kw in Cortez and headed south to Gallup. Wife did great this time with 2.0kw/hr which had us in Gallup with ~17% of battery left. This was the most “deserty” of the charging landscapes. Farmington area has one 6.6kw charger (like Cortez). We skipped that but never could get Fords app to go straight to Gallup without dire warnings lol. Not sure what math they use but its annoying.

Gallup-> Santa Fe
I averaged 2.7kw / hr into Albuquerque and then came down to 2.2kw/hr as we arrived in Santa Fe (elevation gain). Was snowing and temps around freezing. Charging not a problem as we stopped in Grants.

Overall, we’re likely going back via Cali to have easy access to chargers, be warmer, and not have to worry about driving 10-15 miles an hour under limit. Plus the drive is much nicer. The Kansas/Co/Wyoming/Utah/Idaho route map apps like to send you through is insanely flat, featureless (mostly), and boring.

I make the drive from Southern Seattle burbs, Kent, to Vancouver a couple times a month. There are lots of electrify stations just off I5 to choose from. The Vancouver BC area has lots of DC fast charge locations but mist are just 50kw, there are a lot of faster stations building out tho.
