I know lots have been wondering about the Toyo tires, I decided to go with them and love them! Very little testing so far as I just got them this weekend so this post is more about the looks. However the drive home felt great, very strong on the road. Anxious for more around town runs, road trips and off course off road especially snow testing. There is a slight tire noise I can hear with the radio low enough.
I've had the Eibach shocks for about a year, and already a huge fan of the improved ride. I had them installed, and I had told the shop to set the front to 2.1"/0.7", but they must have read the directions upside down as they set them to 0.5"/0.3". So I thought with the RC level kit I was sitting about 3-4" up in the front. Both ways are 2 rings from the end, depending on which way you look at the shock.
I say that to say at first tried the 285/70/20 Tires, which is listed as a 35.7" Tire, but really is a full 36" tire. @Discount Tire (America Tire in SoCal) did a test fit, and WOW that tire looked amazing. Some trimming of the air dam was going to be necessary, not a problem, however at full crank the tire was hitting hard on the front crash bar. Unfortunately, I only got a picture of it while on a jack, but this is the 36".
Not willing to modify the crash bar, I sized down to the 275/65/20 tire, a 34" tire. With the 2.5" lift it fits and clears everything no problem. Maybe next round I can test adjusting the shock up to 2.1"/0.7", or just up 0.5" in front to fully take out the rake and see if they'll clear. That's a lot of lift on stock arms and joints though and I'm sure even more hit to range.
Going to forscan the new tire size this morning to get the spedo, odo and mi/kwh to be true. Will be my first time playing with that system, so wish me luck.
Credit to "Mind of Matter" for a good video on installing the Level kit. I would add that it makes it a ton easier to access the top strut bolts by removing the frunk tray, or at a minimum the back to bolts that have the D-Rings as they are right in the way of the back strut bolt.
I had taken some pics of the straight on wheel and along the side to show the poke, but they won't upload correctly. :/ It breaks the pics up into different squares, not sure if anyone knows how to fix that? I will say with the 12mm offset, there is a slight poke but I think with the EV aspect of these tires it shouldn't hurt too much.
