In case you also weren't aware, subscribing to Tesla gives a very nice discount. You can cancel it right away to make sure you aren't charged for the next month and it will still be active for 30 days. To get that discount, however, you need to activate through the app and not BlueOval.
I was aware of that.
Edit: thinking about it more and doing math in public:

Without the discount
$12.99/$0.53/kWh = 24.51 kWh
24.51 kWh/2 mi/kWh = 11.6 miles
With the discount
$12.99/$0.41/kWh = 31.68 kWh
31.68 kWh/2 mi/kWh = 15.84 miles
The delta is $4.24. I can probably save that by running BlueCruise 1-2 mph lower and lose 2-3 minutes off each leg.

Now to extrapolate that through the 547 mile trip...
547 miles/2.0 miles/kWh = 1094 kWh
1094 kWh * $0.53/kWh = $579.82 without the discount
1094 kWh * $0.41/kWh = $448.54 with the discount
Delta = $131.28
Minus the $12.99 = $118.29 so yeah definitely worth it

I can also get off my dead ass and pump up my tires to 40 psi cold, but that's another thread....

I think you want to look at over all cost. From the prices you provided, there's a 0.12 delta in savings. So in order to break even, you would need to charge at least 12.99 / 0.12 = 108.25 kWh. Anything over that you save money.

EDIT: Meant to comment about the idle charge. That's only going to occur if you hit your charge limit and stop charging while remaining plugged in. If you are stopping the charge, then there's no problem. I think there's a minute or two of not electrons flowing before the idle charge kicks in.

Yeah just edited the previous reply... I think I'm running the numbers in a sensible way.
I used to be a pilot - spent hours doing fuel burn calculations, but I'm out of practice and cost was never a concern because it was someone else's money (thanks taxpayers!).
