I used my adapter for the first time on Wed. I’m glad I watched Tom’s video on State of Charge first. I knew you had to lock the bottom but could not get it to lock. After a couple tries I pushed it on as hard as I could and then it was easy to lock. I did drop the adapter and scuffed it up but it worked great.

Thanks for posting this! My delivery date for the Ford adapter is August so this might be an option.

Did you need a software update to get it to work with Tesla? The latest that I have is 6.2.0.

I did receive an update related to the Tesla superchargers but it may only be for Plug and Charge. I’m thinking it will still work from the Tesla app.

Used mine for the first time today and had the same initial "Oh, you really have to shove it in there to get it to lock" moment.

Once done, though, incredibly fast handshake followed by 179kW speed for the first several minutes at around 50-60% SOC. Glad to add the SC network to my trips. I have several routes where this will give me more and, more importantly faster, options. Too many 200-350 amp-limited CCS chargers in the middle of the country.

Did you need a software update to get it to work with Tesla? The latest that I have is 6.2.0.
You Do Not need the update to your truck to use these adapters. The update is only necessary to utilize plug and charge and for the Navigation showing Tesla available chargers.

You will need the Tesla app to start the session and provide a method of payment.

I too find it a bit tricky to engage the lock on the adapter. We’re on a road trip currently and I’m using Tesla exclusively so far. I’ve ended up with a few charge faults as a result of my apparent inability to lock the darn thing. It seems from the other videos out there that the ford adapter will be easier to use in that respect.

That’s my understanding as well. I look forward to not having to engage the lock but I’m guessing we will have to push the adapter on just as hard.

It’s hard to complain too much though. At least we have an adapter that works.

Which lock are we talking about, being tricky to engage? (there are two locks, right? one to lock the adapter to the charge cable, and one to lock the adapter to the truck’s charge port)

Adapter to charge cable is the issue. There's no positive click or anything to ensure engagement. Adapter to charge port isn't an issue.

A2Z just posted another shipping update. Wild how Tesla/Ford/Rivian couldn’t figure out how to mass produce these in the 8 months they had available to them, but a smallish manufacturer in Canada could. A2Z even had to design something and test from scratch while Tesla had an already designed part from MagicDock.

I believe they’re talking about this lock that secures the adapter to the Supercharger connector. Mine showed up yesterday and I can’t wait to give it a shot later today.

My initial impressions are very positive. The fit and finish seems excellent, which is a notch above the Tesla CCS adapter I used with my Model Y. Tesla makes great hardware, but this thing looks and feels excellent.

Agreed. Received mine yesterday as well. Very solidly built, but wish that cable lock switch had some bright paint underneath it, or other visible indicator for locked/unlocked position.

Winston (our Golden Retriever) and I just made the 1,400 mile trip from Tulsa to DC using the A2Z adaptor and it worked great. I agree with everything that's been said so far: very impressive build and finish, and I do wish the lock button was automatically engaged, like the one going from the adapter into the Lightning. Other than that, it's a great help (the length of Tesla's cables notwithstanding). The handshake time is almost instantaneous. That may be because I went ahead and subscribed to Tesla's monthly plan, which gives us a discounted rate, so I use the Tesla app instead of Plug and Charge. Maybe that's why. Also, only once have I noticed the adaptor feeling the least bit warmer than ambient temperature, and it was by no means what I would hot - just a little warm. The other thing that makes it a game-changer pertains not just to the A2Z but the adaptors in general. It makes the whole road-tripping experience so much less stressful, knowing that there are so many more chargers available now, and that they are going to most likely work as promised. This is the third trip we've made to DC in the Lightning and in the past I've spent too much time at a station just to make sure I could make it to the next one and have enough juice left in the (all too often) event that the next charging station would have some kind of hiccup. I'm an old guy with the aforementioned dog, and we need to stop before the truck does, so now, I drive until one of us needs a pit stop, we charge and go about our business, and 15 or 20 minutes later, we're back on the road. It took me about a day to change my mind set, but it's so much easier on long trips now. In fact, I'm filtering in Charge Assist for only Superchargers. All in all, I'm really glad I spent the money on the A2Z, and now I'll have a backup when the one from Ford arrives.
