When I have my 35s on I treat it like an SR when planning road trips. Not family, a friend rode along so he got the ground tent. I charged at the White Oak Travel Center just north of I40 where the red line starts (w/ Tesla adapter) to 90%. Decent BBQ there so we grabbed some pulled pork and brisket to reheat after we set up camp the first night. It's mostly national forest land with some private mixed in here and there. I would definitely subscribe to a map app like onx. I think we left Sunday morning camp at 53%, had a good climb out, aired up and drove to Roland, OK to charge at 33%ish. There are plenty of well groomed roads to run around on and find campsites without getting too far from the charger. White Oak Mountain is a pretty cool spot if you're taking family with overlooks and a 2mi hike around the top. It's 33 miles of well maintained roads to get there from the Tesla charger. You could also find some RV camping areas with 50amp service too to fill up overnight if you're wanting to do a lot of exploring without having to go back to DCFC, but if you're just going to drive up and find a spot to chill for a couple days then no worries. Watch the weather, it's been raining a bunch lately so water crossings will be high and mud holes deep. And yeah, Guinness is delicious.I'm assuming since I saw two tents, the family was along as well? Nice write up. How much charge did you start the trail with and end the trail with? I see you have an ER.
Just asking because, I have an SR lol and this is a feasible trip from Central Texas. This is national forest land or BLM land?
I like your choice in beers!
