I just got back from a weekend camping trip using this trailer for the first time. This trailer has a dry weight of only 370lbs. When loaded in is still under 500lbs. I drove in a head wind for 185 miles and got 2.0 kWh. On my drive back home with a tail wind I got 2.3 kWh. It is about the same average I got about a month ago to the same camp ground with no trailer. I am 5'10" and I can sleep comfortably in it. I stay at a 50 amp campsite do I can charge over night. When traveling on the highway I kept it at 70mph. People at the camp ground made fun of the little thing but it was so much better than sleeping in a tent and it didn't effect my range. For me it was perfect for a weekend get away.

Thanks for the post. We recently towed our Happier Camper HC1 (1500 lbs.) with our F-150 Lightning (Lariat trim, extended range battery, tow package) 190 miles round trip on mostly Interstates, and averaged 1.5 mi/kWh, which we were fairly happy with (we've been getting around 2.5 mi/kWh on highways this summer). The campsite (IndyCar racetrack) had no services, so we kept our Lightning running the entire weekend to power a fridge, ice maker, and water heater -- so nice having 1000's of watts of power available at the campsite, without resorting to loud, polluting generators, which the vast majority of the other campers utilized. Also, the HC1 has solar panels on the roof charging a marine battery, so it was able to power its own lights and fan.

Thanks for the info about your trailer towing experience. Looks like your range was reduced 40%, which is what we were hearing when the Lightnings were first hitting the roads.

I agree with all your great reasons why camping with a Lightning is great use of the vehicles 1000,s of watts on board. Happy Travels!

Could you go little deeper into the efficency. You say you got 2.0 kWh. and 2.3 kWh.
Is that per 1 mile? Or what?
It's miles per kWh. That's how you can accurately figure your range. With the ER battery you have 131 kWh times 2.3 miles per kWh gives you 301 miles of range . Very accurate. The m/kWh is on your digital cluster. It's an average based on your current driving conditions.
