Go into the menu on your Navigation screen and select weather. Then radar map.

Somebody is averaging right at 20 mpg in the winter time. Nice weather map, even I could see that while driving.

To be fair, my truck is only 2 days old. I don't think I have had the heater on much because the weather has been milder than normal. But otherwise, ya, I am happy averaging around 20 mpg.

Are you in an area that has winter gas? I would say that is excellent even not knowing driving area.

I live in New Hampshire. Normally around this time of year we would have a couple of feet of snow on the ground. I am thankful the last few years have been mild. I had a front single pole mounted plow on my Ram that I traded in, but this new 150 is a lease so I wont be plowing with it.
I'm not sure if they are putting additives in the gas right now or not. I know I have seen notices about that in the past. I never had this 3.5 engine, I have always had 2.7s.

This is one of the differences in Sync 3 and Sync 4. Sync 3 used XM and now Sync 4 uses cellular connection for weather and traffic. You can see it connected by the up and down arrows in the upper right hand corner.

I read somewhere that Navigation is purely a software add on and that every Sync 4 equipped truck ( 302A and up) has a trail at first? Can anyone that didn’t buy the navigation option confirm such rumour? Thanks

My truck had navigation on the window sticker, but I heard the same thing about trail. Made me wonder why we pay x dollars for navigation then it becomes a subscription.

This is what Android Auto/Carplay is for. Use any nav app you like, from OnX (subscription, off-road oriented) to plain ol' Google Maps (free and best in class for paved roads). I can't imagine any OEM nav system coming close to to the functionality and polish of Google Maps, Waze (shows speed traps!), or even Apple Maps, and there's zero chance that an OEM will keep up with Google or Apple's update cycle.

Will I pay for a subscription for an inferior product? Not a chance. I understand why Ford (and every other OEM) offers a range of subscriptions now (nav, 4G/5G, self-driving) but very few of those products have any actual value (for example, I already have nav and mobile data on several phones that will always be in the vehicle). Will I pay for self-driving? In a heartbeat. That feature delivers serious value and I understand the development effort required to build, improve, and update the system (not to mention the on-road liability the OEMs will almost certainly bear).

Disclaimer: I haven't used the new Ford nav system yet and I'd be thrilled to find out my pessimism is unfounded, but it's going to have to be free if Ford wants to have any hope of getting me to use it.

In the past I had always got the Nav for the larger screen, I never purchased an update. Of course it is standard in the my KR so no clue how much it actually cost.

I know I could use my phone but that was not as convenient for me, I like a large screen when I'm using it and in an unfamiliar area.

This is exactly what Android Auto and Apple Carplay do--they display apps from a mobile device on the in-dash screen. You can also launch the apps from the car's UI. Works fantastically well for music, podcasts, nav, etc. With wireless versions of both AA and Carplay, you don't even have to connect a cable any more. Just connect your phone to the vehicle via Bluetooth (like you would for calls), install the appropriate app on your phone (AA or Carplay), and you should be good to go!

Yeah, but if you didn't have Nav with the larger screen you got no screen or a small non-color version. I know it's different now though, just saying in the not to distant past.

So we can play movies from our phone and have them play on the truck screen now? That's cool

The two advantages I have found with the NAV on the 12 inch screen is (1) you can expand the Sync 4 NAV to cover the whole screen and (2) you get a pictorial depiction of turns on the instrument cluster right in front of you using the Sync nave. You don’t get either feature using the various phone NAV programs.
