Tesla's Autopilot is far from perfect, and he's not.

While Tesla should be applauded for being the best at autosteer, it's still has a lot of improving to do. I've experienced countless times where my car would slam on the brakes for no reason at all, and it loses its position in lane during tight turns, intersections, and get confused when next to an offramp lane.
My experience with AP is 100% different than yours, then again, I only used it when stuck in traffic or open roads much like I use Fords Co-Pilot 360. To me both systems are far better Than just run of the mill cruise control and perform how they were intended to perform. I don’t expect them to drive me from point A to B without intervention.

I would agree with you about how autopilot works very well when used only on freeways but I doubt you've gone without ever experiencing phantom braking. It could be a bridge we're driving under, a shadow on the road, or a truck carrying an unusual load, or seemingly nothing at all but everyone I know who's used Autopilot (HW2+) experience this.

If you didn’t reserve how are you suppose to get an invitation from Ford to order? Unless you are getting one from dealer stock, which we have heard nothing about yet.
I wanted to pay the $100 to make it official but he said he didn't need my money. I guess he knows what to do but I think I was the first to ask at their dealerships about the reservation. He told me to put the money down when I can order and he hasn't called since he said he will know more in January.

Sorry but you needed to goto the Ford website and put in your reservation. If you didn't do that, you might be looking at 2025/26 for a truck. Your sales rep is clueless with how the reservations for the trucks are setup.

Maybe you can buy a flippers truck for $30K over.

Guess it depends on his dealer. They could throw a 30k ADM surprise on the first Lightning to come in and make the buyer walk. Then sell it to this guy for cost if they wanted lol.

I sure hope not, I was thinking it's all up to dealer allocation and he knows who will be able to order first. I usually get x plan but I told him I would pay MSRP for this one.

He doesn’t know who will order first, this will come from Ford. But maybe he knows something about regular dealer stock that we have no clue about, maybe a Demo model that Ford will Provide dealers which can be sold later?

Well he knows as much as anyone who is the top salesman at a large dealership I guess. I talked to him a few weeks ago to tell him reservation were over and he said he will know more in January when they are updated. I should be on the dealer list and I think that's important I was the first to want one there.

I dont want to be rude but do want to make sure you know what is going on. By you mentioning reservations to your salesman tells me that you have more information than they do. You're salesman is FOS. A couple of scenarios here:

1) The dealership knows about reservations, used the Prioritization list and as @RavenYZF-R6 commented, will have Prioritization #1 order and then add Market Adjustment to the truck once it arrives and then offer it to you at a premium.

2) The dealership knows something that no one else knows and they will be getting dealer stock along with Reservations.

3) The Dealer is not EV Certified and has no clue what is going on with the Lightning.

4) The Dealer is putting everyone on a list and those on the list will be waiting until Reservations open back up to order.

Pretty much my advice is to find another dealer and pay the Market Adjustment on the first truck if you really need/want or order a Rivian. Too me it sounds like you're going to be waiting a long time unless dealers get their own stock or you pay a Market adjustment on an abandoned Lightning

You could be right but this salesman is a hell of a gentleman and will try to give me what he can. If my local dealer can't get me a Lightning at a fair price quicker than any dealer, no one can. We are friends with most of the managers and it's an excellent dealership. We'll see.

Hey, Gary. I don't know if what you posted is for real or not, but I personally would not have your real name as your screen name, and your real address as "my Location" in your profile. You might want to change some of your personal information.

I was in the phone book and everyone had my name and address back then also. Nothing to hide here.

Correct, without a reservation (which is now closed), no one can get you a F-150 Lightning.

Unless there is magical dealer stock, which would be a complete surprise.

Hey Gary, I wouldn't be surprised if you were the first to get a Lightning delivery out of all of us here. We have all read Ford's statements about how invitees will be determined for each wave, but more and more I'm thinking there is some special sauce included in the formula that Ford isn't revealing. And it probably DEFINITELY comes down to your relationship with a dealer - and if you've been a long time customer. If you get yours in the Spring please come back and post a few pics!
