At this point I'm not really concerned with Wave 1, 2 or 3. I'm More interested in knowing MY 2023 and if it will start in Sep/Oct/Nov?

Based on the '22 XLT ER pricing Ford is sending a subtle message that they really aren't interested in selling XLT's(OR Pros) if they can avoid it in MY2022. Will that be the same story in MY2023 or will they adjust the pricing to be more inline with the original survey?

If they do start deliveries of MY2023 this Fall then that would mean they should have that pricing in place at least a couple months in advance to do those orders which would put them around July to announce next year pricing I hope.

So I’m mid 30s at granger with a reservation about 30-45 minutes after the presentation on the 19th. I feel like ford is going to screw so many people. I’m certainly in the first 15,000 or so reservations but my dealership choice is going to push me out of 2022 and force me to go else where seeing as I need a vehicle this year.

Ford has delayed ordering for months. And nobody is saying that they should release everyone's order on day one. That's nonsense. Nobody is arguing that. But it is not unreasonable to expect that, say, 2% of the reservations would get to order on day one. My dealership supposedly has 700+ reservations. It's not crazy to expect, based on Ford's prior communications, that 25 or so would be in wave 1. It's not cynical to think that 1-3 out of 700 is very very low. If Ford knows ordering will be that sparse, then it has approached this in the wrong way.

Also, nobody is expecting it to be in our driveway tomorrow. But, if you reserved one in the first few minutes of the system opening, it's not unreasonable to expect that you will get one in the summer or early fall.

And, if Ford has a brand new plant that is just getting going, then they have screwed up in their communications. Which is the huge problem they had with the bronco launch. Covid-19 and limited chips and supplies wasn't Ford's doing, but it was Ford trying to keep everyone on the hook despite being completely unable to hit any goals.

And Ford sold 17.1 million units in 2019. That's 46,800 units per day. And you are suggesting that 2000 orders on day one is a lot? Ford is advertising like crazy that they are increasing production to 150,000 units and they are going to start orders this week. SO is it really that unreasonable to expect that you'd be a day 1 order if you are in the top 2% of reservations?
Actually… yes that’s exactly what I’m suggesting. First you’re talking pre-pandemic, before being slammed with supply chain woes, distribution issues and labor issues - remember when the plants shut down for a while? Second Fords total sales are combined across multiple assembly plants and model lines. The Lightning is built in 1 plant which has zero track record yet. So yea, getting 2000 in a day is going to be a lot for them, otherwise why would they limit it? You think they are doing it just to piss you off? They want your money, and quite frankly they’d rather get it now, not down the road when parts are cheaper or there’s more competition in the market. They would love to open the flood gates but they can’t. They are going to allow through what they can handle in whatever amount of time it takes to assemble these things.

Oh and one last thing, just double check your data… the total US Auto sales were 17.1 million units, that wasn’t just Fords data.

“Ford Motor Co.'s U.S. sales fell 3% in 2019, the automaker said Monday. The 2.4 million vehicles delivered by the automaker pushed industry-wide sales to 17.1 million in 2019.”

At this point, I really wouldn’t worry too much, IF…. Ford follows the time stamp policy they spoke about. I remember Ford stating something like they received 20k reservation on the first day. I am hoping that all those that placed a reservation on the first day get an invite to order. It would be interesting to know tomorrow, if all those that got an invite would let us know if they placed their reservation on 5/19?? I also remember Ford stating that the dealership priority selection would be “An Input” to determine who got invites, IMO, dealerships do not determine who get notified by Ford. At least I hope that’s how it goes???

Seems like the Bronco mess in a lot of ways. If only Ford didn't cave to the dealer network and based allocations on where the reservations are, not based on how much clout the dealer has with Ford. @Granger Ford is hopefully a glimpse of the future but it is going to take time to evolve.

ok, sorry for the mistake. You are absolutely right.
But Detroit news is reporting that Ford sold 1.9 million units in 2021 and just over 2 million in 2020.

That is about 5200 units per day in 2021.

allowing 4000 orders wouldn’t be a big deal at all.

They aren’t doing this to piss me off. They are doing it because they want to be able to game this for maximum profit. Do I blame them? No. They are trying to make money. But am I annoyed by it? Yes.

just be more transparent. Just be more clear and not so vague.

They could have easily told us last week that day 1 ordering would only apply to 1/200 reservations.

I placed mine on 5/19 about 5 min before the presentation and ended up #4 at my dealer. I am hoping the first 3 just reserved to try and resale their spot or were looking at a Pro with extended range.

But I ask again, what happens if the person that gets the first invitation immediately declines? Does the invite go to the next person or does it get added to the next wave?

Guess there’s no way to find out if those in front of you have an earlier time stamp? My understanding was they/we have two weeks to decide and place the order, at which time Ford should be able to determine how many reservation were changed to Orders? If the amount off orders were less than invites, wouldn’t Ford send out more invites the next wave? If you are #4 on the list I would not be surprised if you get invited in wave 2.

The issue is the prioritization… it doesn’t matter when you ordered and what your time stamp is as the dealer can rearrange your order in line. Then Ford seems to go off that new list.

Except there are dealers who didn't use prioritization

That only matters if you dealer played the game. Mine didn't and I feel good about that but when I get my invite is based on when Ford allocates enough truck to them.

Not 100%, however that’s one of the factors I believe is dealer priority.
