Another vote for upstate NY here ! A drive from Albany to the Olympic Center in Lake Placid would be a great photo op ! Feel free to leave the demo truck at my house afterwards, so I can take it to all the beautiful campgrounds in the area and have the BEST tailgate party ever…

So, how do common folk get invites to these events ?
Do you have to be a YouTube star, commercial real estate developer, or other high $ star ? C’mon Ford, it’s us commoners who have made the F150 the best selling truck in the USA….

Dear Ford,

Do you want to suffer with intolerable heat and humidity? How about tons of old people driving 20mph with their turn signal on? Tons of tourists in rental cars with no idea where they are going? Bugs the size of golf balls? Florida is your answer!!

LOL.

(Love ya Florida...strictly in the off-season)
First, I SAID MISTING FANS!

Second, wow. A little too accurate. Are you spying on Clearwater?

Also, @Ford Motor Company , what Greene was really trying to say, is that a Florida event should be immediately next on your list because there is a very short timeframe in which the tourists have gone and taken their pale speedos back up north, where the weather is gorgeous, a the cool breeze will take your breath away.

Come on over to the other side of Lake Champlain. Drive to almost the top of mount Mansfield...or maybe a mini-ike (app gap warren to bristol or smugglers notch Jeffersonville to Stowe. Tow some boats to the lake. There won't be any billboards advertising your truck.

I am not an internet celebrity. I am relatively active on this and several other car forums, but I am not an influencer by any stretch of the imagination. I can't speak for the other invitees, but it genuinely looks like Ford was giving out invites as a show of goodwill, even to common folk.

I actually had to double, triple, and quadruple check the invite to make sure it wasn't a scam. It might be dumb luck, might be a mistake... but I'd consider myself a commoner and I was picked!

Whoa! Whoa! We are lobbying Ford now? Ahem...

Dearest Ford PR/Marketing department representative:
Forget the sandy beaches of South Florida. How about bringing that fleet of Lightnings to Oklahoma for some storm chasing? Maybe call it Lightning's searching for Lightning? Proving the Lightning is up to the task of storm chasing would be a real feather in Ford's cap.

Right now opportunities abound.

Science experiments and after market product testing could abound.
- How about an aftermarket "Lightning Catcher" for super rapid charging?
- Or maybe a portable wind turbine? Get accurate wind measurements and re-charge the truck simultaneously.
- Put hail in the Frunk's cooler to keep beverages cold. Nature's ice machine.
- Use the Lightning to power the local TV station when the power goes out and provide a vital community service.

I agree completely. Other than on the Ford forums, I am not active online. I also believe this is a random goodwill invitation - Kimmy K, I am not!!!!

Did anyone stop by today? It'd be nice to know how long the experience is so I can plan my drive from Houston accordingly.

So you didn’t have to click the email(within 1 hour) to claim a spot? You were singled out to go to this event?

I did not respond to the mass email. It looks like Ford reached out to some random forum visitors, reservation holders, etc.; myself included. I was told a handful of people had been engaged directly, I probably will have a better idea how many once the event starts. This is a Friends of Ford program, where they are looking to engage normal customers to hear their feedback. Nothing like this was ever offered to me before from any company, so this was entirely unexpected. It does genuinely seem as though Ford is listening to feedback, they want to make sure they get this transition to EV trucks right, cause you only get one shot at making a great first impression.

Any updates from anyone that went today?

I think I am bowing out. I think I can change the name on the reservation in case anyone wants to go tomorrow at noon.

I went. If you go, talk to the black shirts. Those are Ford Employees who actually work for Ford on the product.

I was told Friday the ride along starts at 3 along with getting behind the ropes to the home charging static display. Saturday there’s no press so wide open all day but good luck finding out when opening time skill be.

I was there early. Catering mostly to the press who are getting to drive the trucks for their reviews and assessment. There’s not much actual VIP treatment for those of us who actually pre-registered, or are multiple Ford product owners, or with Lightning production dates, orders, reservations. Anyone wanting a ride can scan a QR and get in line. There was no VIP line-jumping or asking if anyone was pre-registered.

Ford did not allow VIP’s into the locked truck unless you ride. I was able to talk a “press person” into letting me look inside their truck. Only hands on time was during the ride which was short. Not like the F150 Hybrid tour in San Antonio I think which happened in early 2020 where I actually drove, even on highway.

I think people who are regulars here are very informed about the truck. All this said, things may change after the press hits the road.
